3 CONGRATULA Warriors Take (ARE TON WREST Second in State 2D? COO OOOO CoO i ae a a ee The Warrior Wrestlers trav- eled over 3,000 miles in search of 17 wins and 17 loss. High- lights included 11-0 preseason record (best ever pre-season record), a winning champi- onship trophy at Joseph 18 team invitational, 4th in State at the Oregon Classic, and ending the year with a second place trophy at the OSAA State tournament. Eight wrestlers qualified for state including sophomores: Jay Bjaranson, Brian Cantrell, Steve Stratton, John McDaniel, and Wolfy (Steve) Simmons. Juniors: — Trask Bergerson, and Seniors: Dennis Sturgell and Mike Larson. Bergeson, Sturgell, Cantrell and Larson were District Champions. It was a great season for the Warriors. Trask Bergeson pins his opponent with a leg ride. WRESTLING MEMORIES | remember wrestling practice as a hard, tough, learning experience as a freshman. This year was a little easier by knowing what to expect. There were a lot of funny things that happened this year. Bill Barber forgot his sleeping bag and was forced to cover himself with extra clothes to keep warm. Brian Cantrell could never seem to hold on to his gear for more than 5 minutes at a time. He managed to lose enough singlets and headgear to go over the 100 dollar mark. Brian lost everything from tournament passes to his girlfriend's phone number. At district, a couple of people wanted col d cereal for breakfast. Mr. Warren almost went into labor, and made us eat the breakfast the school was serving. And last but not least, Woof broke his paw in practice and couldn't wrestle. He came to watch and eat. by, John McDaniel SOOOCOOOL OOOD NS SOO OOOO OOD OD SD OOO
