One day a twister hits her home town, carries her away — over the rainbow. This year the many talented students in our high school learned exactly what is over the rainbow. The musical, THE WIZARD OF OZ, was per- formed November 19th and 20th in the Junior High Gym. Everyone involved considered the musical a great success and a wonderful learning experience. This is a week of fun and excitement where the students dress up in their craziest ideas. Each day had a specific topic, and many students and teachers participated. Throughout the week, the classes worked hard on their class floats. These were presented in the parade at 1:30 on Friday. The week ended with a pep assembly that began after the parade and continued until 3:15. Here, the Home- coming candidates were announced, and Brad Burke and Lynn Schroeder were named King and Queen. Various other activities took place, including a skit performed by the choir. The pep assembly ended with the traditional 'Battle Cry'. The over-all winners of the class competi- tion for the week was the Sophomore class. ■ 'T Spirit Week Individual Winners Hat Shades Day: John Clemens, Kristi Bradshaw, Mr. Deutch Tacky Tourist Day: Amy Axline, Sidney Pierce, Mrs. Early Sports Day: Lynda Stuermann, Floyd Miller, Mr. Barry Toga Day: Tami Shelton, Tony Linke, Mr. Current Red White Day: Matt Masterson, Karen Luetkemeyer, Mrs. Roehrs Placing In Float Competition First place- Sophomores Second place- Freshmen Third place- Seniors Fourth place- juniors The Homecoming game began at 7:30, October 23. As the game came to a close, many of the Warrenton fans vanished to the High School commons, where the traditional Home- coming dance was held. The music was provided by Future Sounds, and enjoyment sparkled in the eyes of many. The dance ended at midnight. 105 Be Mine Tonite The 1988 FFA Sweetheart King and Queen candidates are pictured from top, left to right. The fact that the fans stood behind the Warriors all season proves that the season had partial success. The individual goals achieved stand out and give their own reasons for proudness. Coach Scheible's outlook on the year was: My feelings toward’s the 87 football season were filled with several emotions. Depression for the fact of a 0-9 varsity season. Excitement for the fact of several games and there exciting moments. Love for the love of the sport. And guilt, feeling if we or I could have done a little more to help. And Being Paid For It International Thespians This is the first year for the International Thespians Society to have a troupe at our high school. 9 New members were initiated in September and April as students earned the right to become members and the troupe now numbers twenty-five with four honorary members. The Thespians attended a performance of The Sting at Chaminade High School and Cats at the Fox. They contributed a skit to the high school Variety Show and members helped with various community productions and performed in The Wizard of Oz and Exit the Body- the two major school productions this year. Thespian members sponsored the high school Variety Show, as well as selling Christmas ornaments and working concession stands to make the money to buy a new backdrop for the stage. They also paid entry fees for interested members who performed a workshop for the state Thespians convention.
