L. to R. FRONT: Danny Bornamann, Coach Flamank, Tom Clarke. BACK: Jon Blackwood, Cary Leek, John Mc- Cann, Danny Jaspering, Steve Pauk, Randy Haymes, Carl Morhaus, Rich Morhaus, Dale Gerard, Russell Vahle, and Mike Garland. This year the Warriors have shown what it takes to be champions; ability, hard work, and a desire. They took this trio and molded it into a drive; a spirited drive which led them between eighth and fifth place in the state. It started with the Regional Tournament at Bowling Green. The Warrious swept past Montgomery City on their opening game by 72--61. Bowling Green gave the Big Red a struggle in their 56--54 win. The Trojans of Troy toppled 80--70 in a closer game than the score indicates. Then in the final and Regional Championship game, the Warriors defeated Clopton by a decisive score of 64--40. Thus gaining the championship, the Warriors went on to play Palmyra at Monroe City. It was an extremely close game with each team trading the score by one or two points. But with the final buzzer, the Warriors had won 54--50. Hermann was the next team and a very formidable opponent. The Warriors started off strong, but lost by two points 46--48. Thus came the close of the season. The Warriors defeated and yet, as always, displayed the qual- ity of the true athlete, sportsmanship; humble in victory, gracious in defeat. Our heartiest thanks to Coach George Flamank, who did a brilliant coaching job, and the Warrenton Warriors. 2
