The 1966 Homecoming was a festive occasion for the students and alumni of Warrenton High. The day was cele- brated with a parade in the afternoon and a football game that night. The game was followed by the annual Homecoming Dance. The Warriors started slow but finished strong to take fourth in the t.M.O. with an 8-6 rec- ord. The high point of the season was a 59-54 upset victory over top-ranked Bowling Green. The best individual perfor- mance was by Steve Pauk who scored 45 points in a single game against Vandalia. Two seniors were on the varsity. They were Fred Backs and Terry Rapp. Steve Pauk made the all-conference honorable mention list, and Randy Haymes made the all-conference special mention list. L. to R. B-TEAM The Junior Varsity team placed fourth in the East Missouri Con- ference with a 7-7 conference record and a 12-12 record over all. The B-team was led in scoring by Dale Gerard and Rich Morhaus. Other starters were Rus- sel Vahle, Mike Garland and Gary Leek. 27 Explain that again Coach. L. to R. Coach Slavin, Larry Burgess, Danny Buzekrus, Philip Hoelscher, Mike Tyree, David Gruszczynski. FRESHMEN TEAM The freshmen basketball team had one of its most disappointing years. The team over all wasn't too good but we had the spirit to play well all year. The team was coached by Mr. Slavin, and a total of 7 went out for the team. The bright side of it all is that we are over the first year jitters and should do better next year. We learned the fundamentals and learned not to be sore losers. So we hope Mr. Slavin has good luck next year wherever he goes. We ought to win at least one game next year! If there is a mathematical formula for winning basketball games, Coach Slavin will find it. 28 STANDING 1. to r.: Coach Dothage, Walls, Hope, Vahle, Morhaus, Knarr, Lansche, McCann, Rapp, Avis, O'Sul- livan, Jaspering, Pauk, Kunkel, Huber, Cerard, Hoelscher, Coach Slavin.
