Mr. Lester J. Tome In appreciation for your untiring hours of service to the students of WHHS, we wish to dedicate this, our second yearbook, to you our able principal. You have served the Warrensville School District for the past three years. Your first thought has always been the welfare and education of our students. Your ultimate goal is to make Wl-IHS one of the best high schools in the northern Ohio area. Due to your ability in running the school efficiently and with a happy balance between teachers and students, discipline and friendship, Warrensville Heights is well on its way to becoming one of the best schools in the Ohio Education System. 3

lf, X 5 v utumn As the leaves turned from green to gold and slowly drifted to thc ground once again students of Warrensville Heights High School re turned to the hallowed halls of learning A feeling of excitement and anticipation could be felt throughout the school that first morning, as students flocked through the open school doors That day many old acquaintances were renewed and new ones made as we scurried about in search of the right classroom at the right times An all school assembly was held in the gymna sium, here students were welcomed back to school and teachers in troduced later familiar rules and regulations were restated Thus the 1957 58 school year began In the next few weeks the frantic pace of things settled down to the familiar grind we all knew so well New books were passed out and schedule errors corrected When the homework began to pile u most of us put our noses to the grindstone The football team could be seen practicing daily along with the band preparing for what turned out to be the best football season our team had ever had A large and spirited crowd turned out for every game, backing the team with cheers and chants on every play The clubs and various activities held their first meetings elected officers and made plans for the school year The Varsity W led the way by sponsoring a kick off dance in the school cafeteria Other groups quickly followed suit the G R A gals soon became wound up in an exciting soccer tournament the board members grouped for new and unusual ideas for the theme of their first dance of the year. Members of the Mem Warrs staff could be seen everywhere trying to sell that all-im ortant subscription for the yearbook. Reporters for P the Courier burned the midnight oils in order to make their deadlines. The school year was really in full swing. On October fifth Warrensville's second annual Homecoming was held. Throngs of Warrensvillites turned out that warm sunshining day to witness the Homecoming festivities. Everyone present was happy to see our Tigers trounce the Brunswick team. At half time our lovely queen was crowned as the band played A Pretty Girl is Like a Mel- ody. That night a dance was held in the gymnasium in honor of the queen. The dance added the finishing touch to that memorable day. The days of October flew by quickly. The Juniors were busy pick- ing out their class rings. Sophomore Class members were tied up in selling chocolate bars in order to raise money for their treasury. A magazine sales drive was sponsored by the band for the entire school. Prizes were awarded to the top salesmen. At the end of the month the Y-Teens held a Halloween party which was a hilarious success. Before we knew it October had left us and November was here. The cold, wet winds of November didn t dampen the spirits of the Tigers as they wound up the season by placing second in the County football league. Needless to say all students were proud of the Ti- gers who had worked so hard. The G.R.A. members held their first dance of the year a square dance which proved to be a great success. Soon Thanksgiving was almost here. An all -school Thanksgiving Assembly was held. At this assembly our choir made its first appear- ance of the year. About this time most of us were pretty tired from the hectic activ- ities of the fall season. Fortunately we were given a vacation--four glorious days to relax and regain our strength so that we could enter the winter season with plenty of vim and vigor. 5
