Staff EDITOR - Barbara Chnstman ASSISTANT EDITOR - Robert Slivka BUSINESS MANAGER- Pat Sabados LAYOUT Lois Fal Kathy Ellacott Virginia Voth EDITORIAL Pat Mahovlic Bonnie Namy BUSINESS Barbara Unger Karen Westcott ADVISOR Mr. Fred Stokes Mr. Lester J. Tome In appreciation for your untiring hours of service to the students of WHHS, we wish to dedicate this, our second yearbook, to you our able principal. You have served the Warrensville School District for the past three years. Your first thought has always been the welfare and education of our students. Your ultimate goal is to make Wl-IHS one of the best high schools in the northern Ohio area. Due to your ability in running the school efficiently and with a happy balance between teachers and students, discipline and friendship, Warrensville Heights is well on its way to becoming one of the best schools in the Ohio Education System. 3 1 f'-. w . h' '., fy :iw ,I - ' x ' Q .1 ,vw 1 ,,.. Members of the Mem Warrs staff could be seen everywhere trying to sell that all-im ortant subscription for the yearbook. Reporters for P the Courier burned the midnight oils in order to make their deadlines. The school year was really in full swing. On October fifth Warrensville's second annual Homecoming was held. Throngs of Warrensvillites turned out that warm sunshining day to witness the Homecoming festivities. Everyone present was happy to see our Tigers trounce the Brunswick team. At half time our lovely queen was crowned as the band played A Pretty Girl is Like a Mel- ody. That night a dance was held in the gymnasium in honor of the queen. The dance added the finishing touch to that memorable day. The days of October flew by quickly. The Juniors were busy pick- ing out their class rings. Sophomore Class members were tied up in selling chocolate bars in order to raise money for their treasury. A magazine sales drive was sponsored by the band for the entire school. Prizes were awarded to the top salesmen. At the end of the month the Y-Teens held a Halloween party which was a hilarious success. Before we knew it October had left us and November was here. The cold, wet winds of November didn t dampen the spirits of the Tigers as they wound up the season by placing second in the County football league. Needless to say all students were proud of the Ti- gers who had worked so hard. The G.R.A. members held their first dance of the year a square dance which proved to be a great success. Soon Thanksgiving was almost here. An all -school Thanksgiving Assembly was held. At this assembly our choir made its first appear- ance of the year. About this time most of us were pretty tired from the hectic activ- ities of the fall season. Fortunately we were given a vacation--four glorious days to relax and regain our strength so that we could enter the winter season with plenty of vim and vigor. 5 Faculty Members Administering the affairs of W.H.H.S. is the task of Mr. Always on hand when you need Tome, Mr. Walker, and Mr. Kuhn. some help in finding a book are Mrs. Stenger and Mrs. Johnson. Wim, W-it Are in Public Spotlight The WHHS orchestra under the direction of Mr. Watzulik is often called upon to perform. Inside the halls of W.H.H.S. all was warm and cozy. Stu- dents were busily planning the events which were to transpire in the next few months. The last football game had been played and now it was the basketball team's tum to be in the limelight. Team membels gathered in the gymnasium each night for practice. Y-Teeners were teaming with excitement as the date of the annual Sno-Ball grew nearer. Talk of formals to be bought, and decorations to be made could be heard everywhere. The formal proved to be a great success and was enjoyed by all who attended. Now the senior play cast began the tedious job of rehearsing for the senior play. This year a three-act English comedy entitled The Importance of Being Eamest was presented. The play was hilarious and will long be remembered by all. As the weeks went by Junior Class members became wound up in plans for the Prom. Many money-earning projects were undertaken by this industrious group in order to finance this gala affair. The biggest day of the year came for the Juniors when their bright lew class rings arrived. Excitement filled the halls of the school that day as each of the Juniors showed his ring with pride. Of course the Juniors were not the only busy ones. The Senior Class was constantly tied up with plans for commence- ment, including their announcements, cap and gowns. The most im- portant plans of the seniors, of course, were their plans for the future. Many were going on to college while others were to take their place in the business world. While all this, sophomore and freshman classes busily went about the many duties set aside especially for them as well as the regular grind all students were a part of. Soon the cold winds and snow died down and in their place the sweet breezes and bright showers of Spring appeared. This was a signal that the Spring activities were about to begin. 27 Sophomores Get FRONT ROW: P. Tolaro M. Cupaiole, L. Wester- burg, S. Lipsick, R. Ros- sodivito, S. Roberston. SECOND ROW: B. Checking for hall passes is the primary duty of hall guards. Tom Malone checks with three of our freshmen girls. Greeting Mr. Watkins with the morning's absentee list is Judy Ferrara. Spring was everywhere and as new blossoms bloomed, a new happiness could be felt in the halls of Wl-ll-lS. The date of the Junior-Senior Prom was drawing near and the excitement of this was pitched high. Finally the wonderful day arrived. Beautiful girls and their handsome escorts filled the country club. A lovely Prom Queen was crowned. The fol- lowing day many parties and picnics were held for the sleepy people who had attended the previous nights's festivities. The next event of importance was the Annual Spring Concert given by the Band, Choir and Orchestra. The hard work put into the rehearsals was reflected in every note of music and was truly appreciated by the audience. Before long May was half over and to the younger students time stood still as they anticipated summer vacation. For the graduating class the days were fleeting all too fast. Next in the line of events, was the election of officers for the Student Council. Campaigns were put into gear and an assembly was held for voting. The last few days of school passed quickly with final exams. lockers were cleaned and sentimental remembrances of high school days carted home. Once again it was time for another class to graduate. An all-school as- sembly was held in honor of the seniors. A skit was presented by the class and the class prophecy and will were read. This was a happy occasion saddened only by the thought that it would be the last assembly for some. The following Sunday, Baccalaureate was held. Now seniors were feeling the real importance of graduating. At Commencement many a tear was shed by both students and parents, as one by one each member of the class of fifty-eight received the diploma which was their key to a new life and the world. A chance for each of them to pursue the things dearest to their hearts, to find happiness and peace of mind. 41 Seniors Wind Up Four Full Years. 3 4 For the final time in four years the Senior girls met to exchange Christmas gifts with one another. The girls received many cute and practical presents. 4 yu-4 In Senior Homemaking our girls will learn the The presentation of The Importance of Being Earnest was given by the class of '58.
