The Warrensburg-Latham School District knewit hadadrug problem, but couldnot think of a wayto solve it. They knew about the Adolph Meyer Zone Center and called upon its services. Joe Gary, head of the Warrensburg-Latham Im- pact Program, pointed out that if taught about drugs in the lower levels of education (about the drugs, their uses, and about their effects to the person) the younger students could be able to draw their own conclusions about drugs. There are three training sessions per month for the high schools students that wish to teach the younger ones. Then the students are ready to go to the lower levels and discuss what they have learned with the students. It is more of a dis- cussion group than a teacher-student relationship. It is hoped that this project and the people behind it will convince these younger students to make the right decision. 50 vU anb£rct Jmmiatiotuil l anoraip Sorirt? tiirlfiigh rtmol Journal JUDY WICKLINE ED RAU The Quill Scroll is an honorary society for high school students interested in the study of journalism. The charter began in May of 1971 with Miss Lange as the sponsor. Seven members were initiated into the society. Among them were the students pictured above, in addition to Fidelina Acost and Kent Atwood, graduates of last year. These members were chosen for their outstanding achievements on the newspaper and yearbook staffs. MISS LANGE 5) This year, Warrensburg--Latham High School was very fortunate to have Reiko Nagamatsu as our American Field Service exchange student. She arrived in late Aug- ust and by the beginning of September she had brought warmth to the many friendships she had made. Reiko increased our knowledge on Japan by pre- senting slides and an enjoyable talk on her home country during an assembly for the school body. She told of her family: father--engineer, mother--housewife, 13 yr. old brother, and her grandmother; and also of the Japan- ese social life. In closing, the Cardinal staff, in behalf of the other students, would like to express our sincere wishes for a prosperous future for Reiko. Cardinal Baseball 1972 We regret that we do not have more pictures of our fine 1972 baseball team. This is due to the fact that the conference was changed and the games were played in the summer. Although we do not have pictures of the season, we feel sure the team must have done a good job of playing to the best of their abilities. Unfortunately the season started out with a loss but the team spirit was held high. We sincerely hope that the team’s winning spirit boosted them to a winning season and onward to an optimistic future in the Okaw Valley Conference. This year several of Warrensburg-Latham's stu- dents became involved in Junior Achievement. Each person contributed quite a lot of their time to help their respective companies earn money. The people from our school who participated sold kitchen aides and love lamps. Our fellow students who gave of their time were Leea Burnett, Stan Roberts, Kathy Huskey and Kathy Pikey. We are proud of these students and hope that this experience will provide them with a sound basis for a prosperous future. 82 . “ARMS and The MAN” A Play Presented April 29 30 The Cast Raina...................Mary Buth Bluntchli......Brian Haynes Sergius.................Brad Heft Louka.............Marty Hale Catherine........Linda Mears Petkoff.................Greg Peters JSicola..................Jim Bird Officer................Danny Krall Directed by Mr, Paul Main John Waddell, Invocation; Dario Mancini, Master of Ceremonies; Carol Dipper, Class Prophecy; Greg McBride, Response; Roy Mosser, Welcome. Further than this, Blue Ribbon books enjoy a constant personal contact service, available all through the year at the staff’s call. As- sistance to the Business Manager in helping with the problems of subscriptions and the assistance in the sale of advertising space, credited by many as being the greatest help offered by any organization in the field, are additional features of Blue Ribbon Service. The size of a book or school makes no dif- ference in Blue Ribbon production, for there is just one set of standard methods of pro- ducing a book. That is why all Blue Ribbon annuals are of the highest grade materials and workmanship. Latest developments in style are always found in Blue Ribbon books, yet the novelties that pass with the night are never approached. An annual is built for future years. Hence, the proper care and due consideration of all details are reflected in Blue Ribbon annuals. You may be proud of your annual if it is a Blue Ribbon book printed by Hepald Printings Stationery Co.
