All who knew Fred will always remember him with honor, love, and deep respect. While he was a student at W-L he gave us “music with a smile.” He gave his life in Vietnam so that other students would have the freedom to continue giving smiles and music. After the cheerleaders led the fans in some spirited cheers, the students had a dance on the football field. On the following night, Friday Oct. 3, the VVarrensburg Cardinals led a victorious game against Westville with the final score at 12-0. This victory for the Cardinals bolstered their overall record to 4-0. At halftime, W-L band played, and Glenna Barnes was crowned while the decorated cars of the clubs and classes circled the field. The Homecoming Dance, “Those Were the Days,” followed the game in the cafeteria. A sidewalk cafe provided hungry fans with ice cream, candy, root beer, and pizza. The Home-Ec room was decorated for the alumni. Music was by the Misty Men. 79 CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN Mrs. Gilbreth Mr. Gilbreth . Ernestine Frank......... Jackie........ Dan........... Bill.......... Leave it to young Bill Jackson to get himself into a terrible jam. But can you blame him for not correcting a wrong impression when fifty thousand dollars are at stake? You see . . . Bill is a Doctor of Philosophy and a college professor, which means he really can be called “Doctor” all right. But his fiance, Angela, has a wealthy cranky uncle who likes medical doctors but is strongly prejudiced against professors. So when Angela brings Bill to meet Uncle Henry at the hospital and introduces him as Dr. Jackson, Uncle Henry thinks he is a surgeon . . . and no one corrects him because he promises to give Angela and Bill $50,000 for the first life Bill saves. And that really starts something ... for the regular hospital doctor has to leave town suddenly, and Bill is called upon to help in several humorous emergencies. First, it’s a chicken bone a patient swallows. Bill extracts it with sugar tongs. One laughable situation follows another in quick order until the worst of all happens—a patient suddenly develops appendicitis!!Bill, much against his will, is rushed out to the operating room to don mask, rubber gloves and uniform, and then . . . but to tell more would be to give away some of the fastmoving, rib-splitting fun. 85 Spring Band Concert $e ec non pto«n 'jBsaV- jConc )M tS o Sp «''io' ' oW • TiutBP ' O.dicoto'T O FeslW ( YeUo- '0 ' « Po.o.
