(Their father was Jason Strong’s war buddy.) However, if all the girls refuse Rod’s proposal, he’ll still get most of the fortune. The Dilly girls, not wanting to get married, tearfully promise Opal, their martyr- mama, that the sister Rod chooses to wed will do so. The dreadful ha’nt” of Old Betsy, the Horrendous Hag, enlivens the proceedings to the point of hysteria, and when Azariah Coffin, the Mad Mortician, supposedly escapes from a mental hospital and starts trying to embalm the live ones, everybody is practically scared into a state of semi-idiocy! 61 3dmd 4 7)mm 968 CONNIE STALEY, 1968 Homecoming Queen, and Escort Kouichi Noda. Susan Kinzer, 1967 Homecoming Queen, and Escort Joe Brown. Homecoming ’68 began with the Snake Dance on October 3. The cheerleaders led the cheering fans through the streets of Warrensburg and back to the school for a bonfire and pep rally. The football game against Assumption was October 4. At halftime, the W-L band played as the decorated cars of the clubs and classes circled the field. The 1968 Homecoming Queen, Connie Staley, was presented at this time. The Cardinals won this, their fourth straight game, bolstering hopes that the team would finish the season undefeated. The Homecoming Dance, “Island of Dreams” was held October 5 from 8-11 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The crowning was at 9 p.m. and the Blues Alliance provided music. 62 Susan Maxedon, Senior Attendant; and Escort Dick McGuire. Diane Binder, Sophomore Attendant;and Escort Mark Miller Margie Wright, Junior Attendant; and Escort John Bishop. Janet Buckles, Freshman Attendant; and Escort Dennis Hughes. 63 Supm Sophi' Staff Super Sophs’ Stuff, composed of a melodrama, a silent movie, the Factory, and Crazy Capers, ap- peared February 27, 1969. The facetious skits constituted an en- joyable evening for all. 64 DIRECTED BY MRS. DOUGLASS A XluhiM A Tribute to Youth”, Which was written and directed by Mr. and Mrs. Douglass, was presented by the junior class to the public on April 18, 1969. The play was a successful display of a new type of theatre. Composing the play were songs, mimes, pantamimes, poetry, fables, and a humorous reading from UP THE DOWN STAIRCASE. The play viewed young people from a viewpoint that is often neglected today. Following the play was the presentation of the First Annual Columbia Picture Awards. 66 tTtf tjowtk DIRECTED BY MR. The farcial comedy, THE PAJAMA GAME, was presented by the chorus and stage band on May 23,1969. The play centered around a prevalent conflict between labor and management, but in order to complicate the plot, an interplot of love devel- ops between the maintenance manager, Sid Sorokin, and the chairman of the grievance committee, Babe Williams. The musical score was highlighted by “I’m Not At All In Love”, “Hey There”, and “Seven-and-a-Half-Cents”. Mrs. Scanavino directed the production, with Mr. Druessel in charge of the Stage Band, and with Susan Maxedon as Student director.
