The Junior Class has had quite a prosperous year. Our play, “Finders Creepers”, was credited as the play most likely to be remembered in the years to come. The class held a banquet on the night of the Junior-Senior Prom. Both were very successful. We also sponsored a sock-hop. We are very proud of our class members who took part in the various school activities. We have all enjoyed this year so very much and are really looking forward to next year. 21 Raymond Ashenfelter Dianna Atchison Carolyn Baker Karen Batchelder Kenny Beal Vicki Beard Sally Betzer Nancy Binkley Janet Briggs Albert Brummett Betty Bryson Gearldiene Buckner Bill Burdine Dolores Butt Eddie Catlin Jean Chapman Kaye Hanks Nancy Hatfield Barbara. FORWARD F.F.A From the time vocational agriculture was first established in schools in 1917 under the Smith-Hughes Act, boys thought they should work together in an organization rather than working separately. Boys who were interested in farming began to be drawn together in local clubs. At first these clubs were social and recreation gatherings. As months went by, the clubs became organized groups under the guidance of the local ag teachers. As local chapters grew in numbers advisors began to think of having State-wide associations. From 1923 to 1928 a number of States formed these organizations. The most outstanding work was done by Virginia. The Future Farmers of Virginia attracted the attention of other states. The goal of a national organization appeared in 1927. From all regions came proposals to build a national organization. This organization was to be built on the work of the Future Farmers of Virginia. A constitution was copied for the Future Farmers of America as the national organization of, by, and for boys studying vocational agriculture. Since the drawing up of the F.F.A, constitution, this organization stretches from the State of Maine to Hawaii, and from the State of Washington to Puerto Rico. The F.F.A. is composed of chartered State associations which are made up of local chapters. Officers for each unit--local, state, and national--are elected. There are approved procedures and ceremonies for conducting meetings and passing qualified members. Teachers serve as chapter advisers and State super- visors serve as State advisers. The F.F.A. is self-supporting and on a “pay-as-you-go” basis. National dues are ten cents a year. State and chapter financing depends on the size of the unit. Most chapters have annual fund-raising activities in their annual programs. Training for leadership and for officers is conducted at annual leadership conferences on a chapter, state, and national basis every year. The F.F.A. is an inter-curriculum activity, not an extra-curricular activity. It has its origin and roots in a definite part of the school curriculum--vocational agriculture. It is a non-profit, non-political organization providing youth experience. The F.F.A. emblem is attractive and significant in every detail. The colors are blue and gold. No other national student organization enjoys greater freedom of self-government than the F.F.A. In the F.F.A., SERVICE is the watchword; COOPERATION the theme song; and ACCOMPLISHMENT the guiding star. Forward F.F.A.! Some of our F.F.A.
