In September, 1939, just four short years ago, THIRTY-THREE INDUSTRIOUS STUDENTS EMBARKED ON THEIR TRIP THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL. ThE OFFICERS FOR THAT YEAR were: Hubert Bankson, President; Eugene Marshall, Vice President; and Mary Huffman, Secretary-Treasurer. The Class Advisor was Mr. H. E. Raplus. Their parties INCLUDED A SKIING PARTY AND A WEINER ROAST. One PUPIL failed to return to school the following year as a Sophomore, making only thirty-two pupils for the second year. The officers for that year were: J. H. Taylor, President;Cassell Houck, Vice-President; and Bill Spitzer, Secretary-Treasurer. Mr. Elam was THE COUNSELOR. DURING THE YEAR A HAY RIDE AND HAMBURGER FRY PROVIDED THE ENTERTAINMENT. In the Junior year the enrollment dropped down to TWENTY-FIVE STUDENTS. THE OFFICERS ELECTED WERE: Hubert Bankson, President; Ted Brown, Vice-President; Rosemary Short,Secretary; and Bill Spitzer, Treasurer; Their activities included a chili supper held at school; and the very successful play Good Night, Ladies , which furnished the finances for the annual Junior-Senior Banquet, which was also successful. As IS CUSTOMARY, THE JUNIORS PURCHASED THE CLASS RINGS. At THE BEGINNING OF THEIR LAST YEAR AT W. C. H. S. THE NUMBER OF PUPILS DROPPED, ALTHOUGH THERE WERE TWO NEW STUDENTS. By THE END OF THE YEAR THAT NUMBER HAD BEEN REDUCED TO 20. THE OFFICERS FOR THIS YEAR WERE: Bob McCane, President; Bill Spitzer, Vice-President; Betty Schneider, Secretary-Treasurer. Their reputation OF GOOD PLAYS WAS KEPT UP BY THE PRESENTATION 0 Growing Pains , which was highly entertaining. No SPECIAL PARTIES WERE PRESENTED THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF TRANSPORTATION DIFFICULTIES ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A Junior-Senior Banquet. 9
