THE SEAL THE CREST THE COAT OF ARMS OF THE WARRENSBURG CENTRAL SCHOOL This Coat of Arms of the Warrensburg Central School was designed by Marion Burry. Her intention was to bear within this crest a portion of the history and aristocracy of this Queen Village, Warrensburg. The background of the seal signifies an animal skin. Because of all the animal trapping done in this area, the Village of Warrensburg was founded by the workers in a newly-established tannery. The three lines that we see converge in the near center re- mind us of three Indian trails that each met at this one point. This converging point became the early site of the town. Like- wise, at this point was the rock of “pow-wows” that was then called “Council Rock. ” The Indian head in the upper left por- tion is for all the Indians who were in this area at the time of the first settlement. At the very top of Harrington Hill was a single room cabin where Warrensburg's own Floyd Bennett was born. The cabin is shown at the mid-right, just opposite “Council Rock. ” Floyd Bennett was a most famous aviator who accompanied Admiral Byrd on his expedi- tion to the North Pole. Th e professional, artistic reproduction of this coat of arms for all future HACKEN- SACKS of the War- rensburg Central School was made pos- sible through the fi- nancial generosity of the FLORENCE LA POINT SCHOOL OF DANCE. Our school and community reap the harvest of this most generous gift along with its historic legacy.
