Speech and drama district contest FFA and Vocational Agriculture contest at Columbia April 22 Speech and drama contest April 25 Senior day CMSC WHS CHS track meet April 28 Junior Senior Prom Apr11 29 State MUSIC Festival at Columbia District Track meet CMSC May 4 Spring exhibit May May Meet May 8 Letter award assembly May 11 Senior assembly 14 Baccalaureate 16 P1cn1cs 18 Commencement 5-Spring exhibit 6 State Track and Field May May May Senlor Play Presented The annual senior play was pre sented to a capacity crowd April 14 1n the auditorium Meet Me in St Louis by Sally Benson was produced by speclal arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing com pany and was one of the most ambitious dramatic productions cver attempted by a class in W H S The large cast of seventeen people included Jack Stewart Helen Holder Rowena Bobbltt Jeanneane Parsons Marilyn Christopher Herb Smith Ron Heatherly Elbert Leigh Betty Barnhlll Judy Coulson Bob Ball Earl Murphy John Weitzel Barbara Black Irene Mette and Fuzzy Wilson Special music was provlded by Patricia Summers Joan Williams and a band direct ed by Mr Frank Fendorf The play was under the able direction of Mrs Meryl McKean she was as slsted by student directors Much was added to the productlon by futhentlc costumes and stage set The seniors after some research scoured the country slde and found the real thing for every need Programs for the play were block printed by Donna Morison assist 1rg in all Jobs were the class spon sors Mrs Workman and Mrs G11 bert The seniors certalnly deserve credit for a big Job well done' FRONT ROW Joan Dodge Helen Bradley Patricia Summers Marilyn Shively Jo Ann Almond BACK ROW Herb Smith Parker Christopher Jack Stewart THE ORIGINAL EIGHT One day in September some twelve years ago a group of 43 sx year olds cnrolled 1n the first grade of Foster school From this group of 43 that started together there are eight of these who will be graduated together These Orig 1nal eight are Parker Christopher J ck Stewart Marilyn Shlvely J Ann Almond Richard Smith Joan Dodge Helen Bradley and Patricia Summers WHS CIN DER SQUAD Prospects for the rest of the track season look good for the WHS track squad Workouts be gan shortly after the conclusion of basketball and four Tiger runners journeyed to Columbia for the State lndoor meet March 25 The four John Weitzel Herb Smith Jim Pieschel and Joe DeBacker composed the 880 relay team which took third place in the state wide competltlon Weltzel and Smith also ran in the 60 yard dash being ehmlnated in the semi finals The first scheduled meet was April 6 at the CMSC Stmlium against Raytown where the Ben gals edged out a 64 54 win over the Blue Clads John Weltzel was the Warrensburg double winner taking the 100 and 220 events and running on the wmmng 880 relay team CONTEST NEWS The results of the district acad emic contests at CMSC are as follow Lonnie Woodruff fourth bookkeeping Janice Etter fourth 1n spelling Herb Smlth first in machine woodwork S1 F1ght sixth in advanced algebra Tom Cheatham and Don Brown eighth and ninth in geometry and Don Glaspey and Walter Wash second in dairy products Judging On April 12 the Tigers outdls tanced all opponents 1n the Rich Hill 1nv1tat1onal meet which in cluded all conference schools ex cept Clinton The Bengals totaled 79 1 6 points with Rich Hill col lecting 23 7 12 for second and But ler s 18 1 2 for third Warrensburg took first place in all but three events Lee Adams and John Weitzel paced the Tigers Adams winning the shot put and discus 'ind tying for flrst in the broad Jump and Weitzel taking the 100 and 220 and running on the win ning 880 relay team The following day the Bengals took on Clinton in a dual contest Clintons 20 to thoroughly trounce thelr arch rivals Herb Smith was the double winner tak1ng the low hurdles and the 220 and running on the 880 relay team The Conference meet IS to be held today w1th the Tigers hoping for a repeat performance of the Rich H111 meet totaling 98 points to 1 . , - 4 u 7 - . - , , . .
