Text from Pages 1 - 112 of the 1987 volume:

1986 is a special year for Warren Wilson College. It features the new reign of Dr. John J. Carey, who comes to us from Florida to carry out his term of President of this college, the third in Warren Wilson history. The new reign is accompanied by an increased number of stu- dents, a great looking face-lift for Gladfelter, new staff and faculty, and an enthusiastic intramural program that started up this year. These new things that are happening are helping to shape our college. There are more exciting times in store for WWC as we make a transition from one President to another. This is one of the best aspects of our educations here at WWC. Many of them bring to the college, tradi- tions far different from those of Americans. Students from Kenya to Holland arrive at Warren Wilson ev- ery year to expand their cultural and educational backgrounds. These students add flavor to the already exotic atmosphere on the campus. 55 WORK CREWS OF 86-87 Ww Yearbook Crew . Among the ‘better’ comes the athletic program. Wally Covell brings dedication and leadership to the office of the Athletic Director. Mr. Covell has already made drastic improvements in the intramural program and is chairman of the “swimming pool committee’. We are fortunate to have the experience Mr. Covell has brought to us from Maine. The relocated yankee should continue to make Warren Wilson's heritage a SUCCESS. 74 CHEERKLEADERS 3) CROSS — = Oe¢nwaMtoyY i MEN'S SOCCER i + $2h8 Oat @ - ie ® WOMEN'S SOCCER Gases 81 cron te i remnenapoomaremner MEN'S BASKETBALL . : —— the AEC RE DCT REINS i Congratulations | 5 Graduates | ars Dinner Table. 94 MALAPROP’S BOOKSTORE CAFE Books — Cards — Records 61 Haywood Street Asheville, North Carolina 704-254-6734 Congratulations Graduating Class | Of Warren Wilson College From THE BARN DOOK Asheville Mali 704-252-9488 You can expect more from the bank that wants to be the best in the eighborhood.
