The 1979-80 soccer season for the Warren Wilson Women's team was not only new and exciting, but a success as well. We ended up with a winning season consisting of 5 wins and 3 losses. Though times were rough, and the very existence of the team remained in doubt for a long time, up until the beginning of practice the efforts of a few dedicated individuals remained strong. Student coach Diana Young led her inexperienced team to club status and a very impressive season. The feeling of team unity was displayed in the way the women played - together. When we practiced, we practiced hard, when we played, we played hard, and when we partied, we partied hardy. Jenny Spurlock x A 5: AM .htm K

Indoor Soccer has grown very quickly in the United States. Its appeal to Ameri- can fans lies in the fact that it is, by nature, a very fast andexciting game, requir- ing individual speed and skill. This year the Warren Wil- son Women were invited to Lillington, N.C., to partici- pate in one of the first wom- en's indoor tournaments held in the South. With the help and support of many people within the community, the women sold concessions and baked goods at the W.W.C. Men's Indoor Tournament. Money raised was used to cover the team's traveling expenses. Despite many injuries, the women maintained high spirits and Cwith hard play- ingj worked to make the tournament successful.
