The Owls showed steady improvement over the season. All of the Owls will be returning next year. They, together with possible recruits, will be a force to contend with. They should be the top contenders for the district crown. The first half of the season the team had problems working together as a unit. As the season continued the Owls started to give the students and community some exciting basketball. Sandy Piercy, Larry Smith. I an--N.-,.......,,.q 2 5 i ' v x W nl s M X ,,'+-f ,

Some of the highlights of the year were the trophy taken in the consolation game of the Walter State Tournament, the second place trophy taken in the Warren Wilson Tournament, being ranked eighth in the nation in Post-Christmas NLCAA fNational Little Colleges Athletic Associationj, and the last two home games against Brevard and Converse, where the team pulled together and showed the difference a team effort makes. The biggest thing the Women's Basketball team had going for them this year was that they played as a teamg everyone pulled for each other. Everyone was an asset to the team, whether they were one of the experienced players showing a new move to a less experienced player, or one of the subs sitting on the bench shouting encouragement to the five on the floor. For all occasions there was Coach, teaching us, encouraging us, pushing us, winning with us. Jerry Slaughter - The Best. Nancy Wolfe.
