N Dr. Arthur Bannerman, President To the Class of 1965: The Editor asked that I make a statement on the growth and expansion of Warren Wilson for the 1965 Yearbook. This is appropriate, for your class not only has seen the College's facilities grow substantially during your years on the campus, but you have also contributed to that growth. The new church and the new library are the major structures completed during your under-grad- uate years, but as this is being written fit is still mid-winterj the new Service Center has been let to contract, the Emma Jessie Ogg Administration Building is being designed by the architect, and additional housing for single and married faculty members will soon be under construction. Too, the next dormitory is being programmed. Other projects soon to takejform will include re-modeling at Sage and Morse. And then there is the new pig barn down on the farm, with a new Granary soon to stand near it. Too, your class has sponsored as its own project, major improvements at the swimming pool and surrounding area. And paralleling all of these developments, the Trustees and Administration have launched a campaign to raise S1 million to complete the expansion of the plant, facilities and equipment required to make Warren Wilson a senior college with an enrollment of 500. All in all, the excitement which accompanies growth has been very much a part of the educa- tional experience of the 1965 class. Even more important, there is the intangible growth one has sensed on the campus this year - in part academic, in part intellectual, in part spiritual. Warren Wilson has traveled a goodly distance even in the all too brief period you have been members of the campus community. But what will things be like at your 10th, 20th, 50th reunion? Of course, no one knows, but the signs are propitious. And in a real measure the answer will depend in part on you - your faith, your loyalty, your abiding concern for Warren Wilson College. Keep these ever bright and strong! 8 Arthur M. Bannerman President
