Working Their Way To The Top VARSITY: Kneeling: Co Captains Diana Segume and Sharon Angelozzi. Standing: Fran Berberich, Bridget Boyle, Donna Bocko, Denise DeFillips Karryn Castner, Denise Fulgoni, Karen DeMonl, Cherie Oosldyke, Marge Beasley, Janet Dudiak, Becky Cunningham, Coach LuAnn Ferenci. The 1981 Field Hockey Team had a successful season with Miss LuAnn Ferenci as their new coach. She under- took the task of coaching both teams. Varsity and J.V., and did an excellent job. Led by captains Sharon Angelozzi and Diana Seguine, the Streaks ended up third in the D.R.C. with a record of 12-4-3. They advanced to the State Tournament where they met Butler in the second round. Not having beaten Butler in several years, the girls were determined to win. It was a long and hard-fought game but the Streaks emerged victorious in the end with the score 1-0. Their next game was against Mount Olive. Even though the Streaks took an early lead in the game, Mount Olive was able to come back and score two goals to defeat the Streaks 2-1. Although J.V. teams don’t count in the D.R.C. standings, the 1981 Blue Streak J.V. team should have. They finished the season undefeated, with a record of 16-0-2. Both teams did exceptionally well, and with only seven seniors graduating, the girls look forward to an even more successful 1982 season. As always, the defense is ready to rush out on another penalty corner. 26
