The 1981-82 Varsity cheerleading squad consisted of thirteen girls led by captains Shelli Cavitch and Margie Au- renzi. Eight girls made up the J.V. squad with Loreen Williams and Karen Wiseburn leading the way. Both squads attended a summer camp, and for the second consecutive year, Varsity was chosen Grand Champ- ions. They were awarded many ribbons, a trophy, and the “spirit stick” for being the most spirited squad at the camp. This summer spirit continued into the Fall and Winter as the girls cheered for football, soccer, basketball and wrest- ling. They held pep-rallies and a cheer- leading clinic for children. They prepared breakfasts for the senior athletes and participated in several competitions. The cheerleaders work non-stop from June until March. Their goals are to promote good sportsmanship, team spir- it, community involvement, and an ap- preciation of our school and its activities. They play an important part in our athletic program and can always be counted on to get the crowd “rowdie.” 15
