Beauty, Brains, and Belligerence You may wonder how beauty, brains, and belligerence tie in with these pictures. First the “beauty” refers to the radiant Kelly McNulty, Miss McNulty (right) has been placed on the best dressed list, after she came dressed in her Sunday clothes on the Senior Halloween dress-up day. Secondly, the brains” refer to the Gifted and Talented students playing dungeons and dragons (below). Here, Colleen Szucs, Joy Oostdyk, Cindy Aimer, John Natishan, and Allen Ponsini play this mind-boggling game while Mrs. Bell acts as a supervisor. Finally, the “belligerence is shown by a Warren Hills’ student's comment on world affairs (below). NUKE THEM TILLTHEY GLOW GOD fcfESS AMERICA 24

There were many activities to keep the A. F. S.ers busy such as selling food at football games, raking leaves, a bake sale, and an international weekend When attending a home football game, many people support A. F. S. by buying hot coffee, hot dogs, or many other items sold in the white booth next to the bleachers or on the porch behind the cafeteria. This is the largest project in which A. F. S. gets involved. Both A. F. S. groups, students and adults, work in this activity. A. F. S. is a worthwhile organization that deals with exchange students and international living. One bitter Saturday in October. Mrs. Cole. Colleen Szucs. and Andy Roy worked at the bake sale in town. Almost all the members dropped baked goods off in town and then left. While this was going on. Barb Bowen. Karen Kearns. Cathy Braun, and Bill Levine went raking leaves in the boro. It was a profitable morning. Dan Ames, a Senior last year, is spending a year in Holland with A. F. S. This is a unique experience. Dawn Oostdyk, a Senior this year spent last summer in Germany, and she loved it. ABOVE: Carol Schander. Dawn Oostdyk, Nancy Stengcr, and others listen during an A. F. S. meeting. Keeping Busy After School There are many ways to spend spare time after school. These students, like many others, have part-time jobs. For these students, school and homework are only one phase of their day. Working is often tiring, but that too is an education. Part-time jobs for many students are just for earning extra money. For others, jobs provide experience for a future career, such as secretarial or hospital work. Many students find work as an important part of their day. 25
