Transcender Speaks for Students Students of the Journalism II class put out a school newspaper. The Transcender allows students to air their feelings about almost anything. It gives the students the opportuni- ty to see all the facets of the newspaper business. There is more work involved in creating a newspaper than writing articles. Students are responsible for making interviews, devising layouts, typing articles, and sending them to the printer. Mrs. Cole is the newspaper advisor and Ward Connolly is the Editor in Chief. Under Ward, there are five editors. These editors are responsible for the front page, sports, editorial, and feature sections. Mildred Beasley enjoys working on the Transcender. Behind The Scenes Most students do not realize the work that goes on behind the curtains during an assembly, play, or other presentation. There are, however, seven students who run the auditorium. These students are the Technical Staff. The Technical Staff meets twice a week after school in the auditorium. During this time, they clean the auditorium. The Technical Staff has other responsibilities. When Sammy Hall and Bob Corff came to our school, these students greeted them and represented our school. The Technical Director is Peter Kostrobala and he pulls the Technical Staff together. His assis- tants are the Assistant Technical Director, Head grip, head gaffer. First grip, and Second grip. Their moderator is Mr. Albrecht. RIGHT: John Roslewicz. Wayne Davis. Mike Dougherty. Ken Treankie. Pete Kostrobala. Missing Ed Reese 20
