That was a dreaded word to the brave class of 51 back in Our records of the class go back to September, 1948, when seventy-one isnt but frightened students entered U.H.S. Sponsors for the three groups Mrs. McClure, Mr. Hall, and Mr. James. Activities for that year were the dance, 'Freshmen Fantasy', a weiner ice skating and roller skating parties. 1948. val- were roast, In our sophemore year, the group suffered seven casualties, leaving sixty- four students, who were divided into two groups. Sponsored by Miss Angus and Mr. Hall, we gave two dances during the year. The class also did an energetic selling yearbook subscriptions. job of In the fall of 1949 we became hi hl respected uniors still under the ef- Q I J ficient sponsorship of Miss Angus and Mr. Hall. , The chief activities of the junior year were four dances and the junior play, 'Great Caesar's Ghost,' directed by Mr. Tilden. Other activities of year were selling magazine subscriptions and holding a paper drive. the The Junior-Senior Prom, held in the Centerline Recreation Building, was the highlight of the year. The senior class began their last year of high school with great enthusi- asm, with Miss Angus and Mr. Weiss at the helm. Some of the money-maki pro- U8 jects were selling Christmas cards, stationery, candy, and potatoe chips. The main social activities of '51 were two dances and the threatrical event of the year, the Senior play, directed by Mrs. Alice Caminsky. The year ended with the senior trip to Upper Michigan, the Straits, the Locks and Mackinac Island on board the S. S. North America.
