Working under a new constitution written and adopted last year, the members of the council have tried a few new schemes. During the winter months when it was impossible to go out of doors during the lunch period, records were played in the auditorium and dancing was enjoyed by all. Two successful assemblies were held. The first in October was a meeting of just the student body at which Robert Head, Ignatius Delekta, and Nancy Ogg explained the rules of the school and requested that co-operation be given by the student body. The second one was held on February 19 and Mr. Daniel Rhee was our guest speaker. Mr. Harkins presented the United Nations flag to the school and Ignatius Delekta accepted it on behalf of the school. Marilyn McFadden gave an interesting speech concerning her trip to the United Nations. We are sure everyone was pleased with the accomplishments of the Student Council this year and we look forward to bigger and better ones next year and for the years to come. 44 U I Ls xx f 3' 1 if if L Us ,. 4 9' f-a 3 .. is Z if Q FI if 5'- J, 'YW ' NX .ll uxs .ggi -'ir fi ,jjj ... Nicholas Waterman, Arthur Pois- sant, Iames Mello, Raymond Aquiar, Vincent Gasparro, loseph De Mello, assistant coach, FOOTBALL - 1950 Donat Brochu. Eight letter men were among the candidates reporting to Coach Charles Burdge for the opening of the 1950 season. They were: Capt. Bob Head, Iggy Delekta, Curley Sarracino, Bob Avila, Bull Harvey, lack Saviano, Vin Gas- parro, and Adam Iervolino. The Redskins traveled down to Coventry for the first game and late in the first quarter Bull Harvey smashed over from the four yard line, and Buddy Drews swept the end for Warren's first score. But although the Warren foward line played good ball throughout the game, the Skins were beaten 12-7, both Coventry touchdowns being scored on punt returns. The following week Warren was literally trampled over by South King- ston 20-0. Stu Reels and Pete Kearns were the offensive sparkplugs for South. The farthest Warren advanced to was South's 20 yard line in the final period. It was a dismal day for the Warren eleven. Warren's first home game ended in a failure as the home tribe was scalped by a 13-0 margin. Although Paul Harvey and Iggy Delekta tried to make Warren's passing attack click, it was no go. Although they were beaten, the Skins played fair ball against the powerful Red and White Avengers. Fred Zubee and Walt Mather did the most damage for East Greenwich. The following week found Warren playing host to Big Duke Abbruzzi and the De La Salle football squad, with De La Salle pounding out a 27-6 win over Warren, with Carl Stahl pitching perfect strikes to Dan Ahearn for two touch- downs and setting up the other two jaunts to pay dirt for the Crusaders. War- ren's only touchdown was obtained by the hard running of loe Harvey, and bull-like charging of Bob Avila through the center, with Harvey finally going over to score. Warren encountered, next, its bitter rival, Barrington, with the Eagles finally emerging victorious, although the game was a bitterly contested one from start to finish. Ed Pezzullo scored first to give Barrington a 7-0 lead at half time. But a hard fighting Warren eleven set the Eagles back on their heels, as lack Saviano intercepted an Eagle pass and galloped 75 yards for a touchdown. From then on it was a rough game but in final minutes of the game Les Duncan pulled a Warren pass down and scored the winning touchdown for Barrington. Warren's only win of the season was obtained at the expense of Paw- tucket Vocational in a non-league game. The Skins made every opportunity Count with practically every man on the squad scoring. The final score was 35-0 with Avila, Delekta, Harvey, and Buddy Drews all breaking into the scoring column. Warren's next game was with the powerful Colt team. It was a bitterly contested game all the way with Bristol winning 26-0. Herm Grabert was the star'of the game scoring all 26 points for Colt. On two occasions Grabert ran over 40 yards to score. The score at the end of the first-half was 7-0, but due to the hard-running of Grabert and their many reserves, Warren proved to be no match for Bistol. Capt Bob Head, Iggy Delekta, and Bill Delmage played great ball for Warren throughout the game with Colt, with Avila and Long Iohn Bryden doing most of the ball carrying for Warren. The Class Champions, Lockwood, had no trouble in racking up 31 points to Warren's 0 the following week in Apponaug. Crecilius, Warner, and Gregory all performed well for the Blue-Devils. The final game of the season was played against Burriville and although the Skins tried to make this last game a win, they fell short by 14 points as Burrillville won 27-13. Larry Gingell and Frank David both scored twice and Gingell also kicked a field goal. Bob Avila, Iggy Delekta and Head played good ball for Warren, with Delekta and Avila scoring for the Skins. Those who played their last football game for Warren were: Captain Bob Head, Iggy Delekta, Iohn Bryden, Adam Iervolino, Bud Drews, Curly Sarra- cino and Eddie Blount. n PLAYER STATISTICS SENIORS SOPHOMORES AGE WEIGHT H'EIGH'l' AGE WEIGHT HEIGHT R.
