Her ability to make friends easily and her pleasing disposition have won her many lasting friends. MARY BROWN Mary is a quiet girl but is very pleasant. She is quite an artist although her desire is to become a nurse. Whichever you choose, Mary, we wish you luck. He is quite popular though, in spite of his shy- ness. Because of his love of books and literature he intends to start out as a bookstore clerk. We're sure that in his slow and patient way jimmy will be a success in life. JANE HOLMES jane is the outstanding girl of our class, and rightly so! If there's a job to be done, she's there to do it. S RHUYR Pulqu' 'I'Il'1'l1fj -fun: 1938 1939 1940 JUNIORS The year in which we entered Warren High, with a keen anticipation of the years to follow. Our scheduled class meeting to elect class othcers was disrupted by the September hurri- cane, and no further attempt was made toward class organization. Sophomores! Now we were surely on our way, and so it was with great zeal that we chose Mr. Cappuccilli as class advisor. The body of ofhcers consisted of: President, Willial11 Rodrigues: Vice President, Edgar St. john: Secretary, Lois Staplesg and Treasurer, Marshall Martin, jr. The plans which we proposed for a Hallowe'en hayride instead of a party, never bore fruit. Found us full of enthusiasm and renewed hope for the complete unity our first years lacked. Under the guiding hand of Mr. Conway, we have been quite successful in achieving this. The capable body of class oflicers, together with the cooperation of the class, have made our junior year far more active than we had even dared hope. We held a dance profitably and a military whist, and presented a play on our class day, most successfully. This year, our class has been active in sports, being represented on the football, basketball, and base- ball teams. lt is, therefore, with great eagerness and confidence that we look forward to our remaining year at Wilrren High and what it holds in store for us. This was the main event of our year and we are all looking forward to see what our junior year holds for us. Page Twrnfy-xix FRESHMEN HE Freshman year is an uneventful one from the standpoint of class activity, social or scholastic. Lack of material was more pronounced than usual and the lack of expe- rience in che squad made Coach Burdge's task even more diilicult. The team did manage to win two games, however, and made a creditable showing in several others, so that hopes for next year run high. KELLEY Our only social venture of that year-a Soph- omore Hallowe'en Party-was successful beyond expectation, for we wanted to have Open House for everyone, and everyone came. The following year, as full-fledged Juniors we were allowed three social functions. Our first, a Military Whist, was well attended. Then came our day -Junior Class Day. We pre- sented the play Christmas Dinner , the story of a young girl, Doris Page, who after taking a course in Home Economics attempted to prepare a Christmas dinner. As a result, the family was compelled to eat ham and cold beans for dinner. For our Junior dance, the auditorium was dec- orated in nautical style and everyone pronounced it a huge success. The greatest event of the year was our Junior Prom, Warren High's auditorium was hardly recog- nizable under a gala display of beautiful spring flowers. BOUTIN The autumn of nineteen forty found us entering school for the last time and acknowledging the fact that soon we would have to make a niche in this wide world by ourselves. Discontinuance of the Tomahawk was proposed but the students put their heads together, elected a staff of officers and finally went ahead with its publication. Buckling down early in the year we held our first Senior Social, which was a dance. Then came a food sale on April 12. Our annual Easter Monday Dance was held April 14 and proved to be one of our greatest successes. Throughout our four years, we had been a stu- dious class and with the announcement of Honor Society Awards in April, we found that only one class in the history of the High School had ever had a greater number of its members elected to the Honor Society than ours-that was the class of 1940. Now with our school days near an end we have at least two great events to look forward to, our graduation from Warren High, and last but not least the Senior Reception, after which we will no longer be students of Warren High but members of the ever-growing body of the Alumni.
