The year of l972 has been very eventful for the Girl's Basketball Team under the direction of Mrs. Boyd. They played five games, two with Fort Frye, one with Parkersburg Catholic, and two with Williamstown. They have thirteen players, their first string consisting of Colleen Smith, Debbie Smith, Karen Hoyt, Lynn Gribble, and Pam Birch. Their managers are Rhonda Bowen and Nancy Kidder. Girl's Basketball Team Any girl can be in G.A.A. The girls have intramurals during eighth pe- riod, and play volleyball, basketball, and shuffleboard. The G.A.A. also sponsored a basketball and a track team this year, and have competed in matches with other schools. The officers are: Pres., Dea Jarvis, V. Pres., Rhonda Bowen, Sec., Kathy EddIeblute5 Treas., Myrna Hooper.

The purpose of this club is to broaden the knowledge of its members in the people and customs of other countries. During their meetings, the club shows filmstrips and dis- cusses them. Its 46 members compete with each other, and with other schools in chess tournaments. They're all studying to be better chess play- ers by reading books on how to improve one's chess playing. Chess is a very intri- guing game with complicated moves, and takes much concentration to win.
