Chess Club is a relatively new club at W.H.S. It consists of 19 members all working hard to place first in the school tournaments. Chess is a game that requires great skill, knowledge, and intellect to outsmart the opponent. The first dance of the year was the Sadie Hawkins dance, sponsored by the Library Club. Their main project was to help purchase a new shelf for the library. Last spring the members and advisors went to Columbus to the museum of archeology. Spanish Club Spanish Honor Society The Spanish Club and Spanish Honor Society have a ioint goal of stimulating in- terest in the Spanish Language. During the meetings a Spanish atmosphere prevails. Par- taking of Spanish food, music, filmstrips, games and speakers are just a few of the T items that may make up a program. To be initiated into the Spanish Honor Society, a student must maintain an above average grade in his Spanish Class. Y-Teens Y-teens have been active in many projects this year, including a variety show to benefit the March of Dimes and the leukemia founda- tion. They also went trick or treat for U.N.I.C.E.F. at the homecoming football game. They have had many guest speakers: Miss Patti Hartleben, from Wendy Ward Charm Center, and different hair stylists from Charles Hairdresser in Marietta. The mother-daughter tea was held at the YMCA in Parkersburg. 0
