We were called the Now Generation , not just a new generation, but a new kind of generation - assertive, articulate, well-educated and worldly. We brought about a YOUTH- OUAKE. We sat through all kinds of weather at foot- ball games . . .spent our last cent on fun and gadgets, food and dates . . . gave our free time to clubs, sport and school activities . . . con- formed en masse to fads and fashions . . . competed in earnest for top grades . . . learned more, earned more, owned more and just reveled in the good life of being a part of W.H.S. It has been said that we were more deeply committed to the ideas of decency, tolerance and brotherhood than almost any other genera- tion since the age of chivalry. We felt that we were not just merely preparing for life, we were living it.
