It also contains a spacious workroom and audio-visual center, two conference rooms, and a librarian's office. General science, biology, chemistry and physics classrooms and laboratories comprise the science department. It has been said that our science depart- ment is one of the best equipped depart-f ments in our area. The aim of the business education department is to train future secretaries and office workers. Three classrooms, containing the most modern office ma- chines and equipment, is used to pre- pare those students who wish to enter business life. Art is a new subject which has been added to our curriculum this year. Stu- dents interested in art have lessons on lettering and perspective drawing, oil painting, charcoal, and water coloring. Crafts such as mosaics and ceramics are also taught. The pride and joy of our school is our high school auditorium which will ac- commodate 750 people. The most mod- ern style of architecture has been followed in constructing the auditorium. Perfect acoustics and a large stage provide a perfect setting for assemblies, plays, and other public gatherings. The aim of every English department is to give the student thorough training in written and spoken English. Modern facilities and equipment, as well as up to date texts in literature and grammar, are provided for our students. Every girl will have the privilege of working in the home economics kitchen which is equipped with the latest models of stoves, refrigerators, washers, and dryers She will also learn the fine points of sewing, homemaking, and other domestic arts. Modern furniture has been selected for the comfort of the student in the social studies classrooms. Maps and globes have been provided to aid the student in his study of history and world problems. Searching for facts, taking pictures, writing copy, making layouts, and editing, all went into the making of the 1961 Shield. Success did not come easy. Often a piece of copy was written and rewritten, and layouts were done again and again until perfect. At any rate, the job was finally finished - and here it is! Hope you like it. Mrs. Hammett's journalism class prepared the layouts for our yearbook. The consolidation of Warren, Bartlett, Vin- cent and Little Hocking made it possible for Warren High School to form a football team. With an enthusiastic group of seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen reporting for practice in August, Coach Vincent Scragg and Assistant Coach Eldon Malling began the difficult task of building a team. The boys, having had no pre- vious football experience, worked very hard to learri the game. Although the boys lacked ex- perience and knowledge of the game, they showed good sportsmanship and zeal. With the training of lower classmen, Warren will have a winning team in the future.
