JUNIOR HIGH MOVES to WARREN High school life was slightly different this year for both the students and school staff. Junior high students entered the high school building, taking over most of third floor and moving many of the classes. Locker assignments were changed and halls became more crowded. Three lunch periods were set up. Some teachers taught both junior and senior high stu- dents and others had to switch room as- signments. Cooks and janitors had more work to do. On March 13 when students heard about a recommendation that administra- tion was making to the school board, they walked out of school refusing to go to their sixth hour classes. The recommenda- tion was that Mr. Benter, a teacher and coach, not be rehired. Ninety-two detentions were given as a result. Over 700 Warren residents signed a petition for his rehiring, and over 150 Apple River residents signed one also.
