Meyer Principal Robert F. Knautz The Board of Education is the governing body of the school district and is charged by the State with the responsibility of maintaining and dir- ecting the public school programs and activities. The Board of Education consists of seven mem- bers elected by the people in the school district, who serve for three years terms. The three year terms expire in April of each year on a rotation basis so that no more than two or three members are elected each year. This allows for a more consistent philosophy in governing the school district. Members of the Board of Education must fulfill their responsibilities of governing the school only when acting formally as a member of the Board at legally scheduled meetings of the Board of Education. Board of Education meet ins are always open to the public but may meet in closed session to consider matters such as col- lective negotiations, peronnel problems, purchase of real estate property, or an appointment to fill a vacancy of the Board. The Board of Education meets at least once each month to carry out its responsibil ities. The Board of Education selects the Superintendent of Schools to act as its executive officer who is responsible to the Board for the enactment of its policies and legislation.
