The high school pupils gave the following: Elsie Sullivan sang Kashmiri Song’ and ‘Danny Boy ; the Girls’ Chorus sang Lift Thine Eyes” by Mendelssohn, and “This Is My Country,” a Fred Waring arrangement; the Pepper eno” by Endersen, a c.arinet duet, was played by Elizabeth Wear and Jane Hicks. j Another occasion at which the iris’ chorus sang was at the Mother and Daughter Banquet, on March 28. and at the Baccalaureate. SOLO CONTEST Saturday, March 2. 1946, the solo contestants w ent to Rochelle, Illinois to compete with other vocal talent. The people were: • •• Elsie Sullivan singing l!Phe Lass with the-Delicate- Air” -by Arne; Joyce' Haffele play- ing a trombone solo “Cascades” by Smith; Errol Rodda playing a clarinet solo “Introduction and Tarentella” by Scarmpiine;, Shirley McCoy singing “Songs My Mother Taught Me by Dvork; Elizabeth Wear playing a clarinet solo ‘ and Tarente.la” by Buy :; the Girls’ En- semble singing “When I Have Sung My Songs” by Charles and “It was a Lover and His Lass” by .Harris, include ,two first.-soprano , Marilyn Wolfram and Elsie Sullivan;-two second sopranos, Dorothy wolfram and Shirley McCoy; two alto . The ratings which these people won were: Joy ce Haffele, 3rd; Errol Rodda. 3rd; Shirley McCoy 5th; E’sie Sullivan, 3rd; Girls’ Ensemble. 5th, and El zabeth Wear, 1st, Elizabeth thereby winning the chance to take part in the sectional contest at De Xalb. The' contest at Rcchel e. April 6, was attended by the band and the girls’ chorus. In April, the concert of the year was presented jointly by the band and chorus with the following program: 1.
