This department is indeed in the limelight, for in the armed services, on the production line, and in spec- ialized fields of science, the cry is stillamathl more math! Page Twenty-six Miss Newton now includes eight weeks' study of aircraft mathematics in shop math. The whole course is especially de- signed to train Usoldiers of pro- ductionfl More students than formerly have placed higher math on their schedules. These senior courses -i- algebra, solid, and trigonometry - follow the prin- ciples and methods used in plane geometry. They have a direct bearing on advanced college math and requirements for of- ficers' training in the branches of service. Useful math classes review the fundamental principles of arithmetic and train the students to solve practical, every-day problems. As the name implies, the busi- ness arithmetic looks toward a business career. lt provides preparatory work for bookkeep- ing and office work.
