Pl-ll-CHEM CLUB The Phi-Chem Club functions as two distinct organizations this year. The Physics division, sponsored by Clayton H. Carleton, is composed of members of the Physics classes who wish to experiment further and to study interesting physical phenom- ena. The Benzene Ring, sponsored by Ivan E. Massar, is open to Chemistry students who maintain a grade of G-plus or better. Activities of the clubs have consisted of demonstrations by members and numerous trips to local industries. Officers of the Physics Club were: President, Harold Green, David Bishop, Vice President, Henry Betz, Richard Howard, Secretary, Rex Coates, Ruth Pfau. Officers of the Benzene group included: President, Herbert Schryver, Nfatthew Palovich, Vice President, Kfiles Baldwin, Robert Bowers, Secretary-Treasurer, lrvin Bland, John Heldack. ZOQLQGY CLUB Within two years the Zoology Club, under the sponsorship of R. NI. Crawford and H. C. Hulme, has gained much fame, due to the frequent Held trips, excursions to points of interest in Pittsburgh, lectures, the annual exhibit, club movies, social affairs, and regular meetings. The Zoolngisf, clever bi-weekly publication, has won many friends for the organization also. This year the Club became a member of the Stu- dent Science Clubs of America. Engineering the club were: President, W. Scott Long, Nfiles Baldwin, Vice President, Robert Tilton, Roberta Kirkpatrick, Secretary, Ruth Hutzley, Jeannette Brown, Treasurer, Nfiles Baldwin, Rita Petit, Corresponding Secretary, Celia Laakso. Supervised by Nlr. Hulme, the following students managed the work of The- Zoologistz Editor, Helen Paully, Bernadine Nforris, Circulation Nlanager, Ruth Hutzley, Artists, W. Scott Long, Junior hfaurer, Literary Editor, John Allen. In addition to the above officers and editors, members of the staff included Allen, NI. Bartholomew, N. Binikos, K. Brooks, R. Cooper, A. BTBLTGPHILES . The Bibliophi.les.was formed for thupurpose of fostoringraminterest in g ' - erature among high school students. The membership is limited to twenty members of the twelfth grade literature classes, and all must maintain an average grade of E to belong. Club sponsors are Xliss Jeannette Risdon and Bliss Alice K. Bowen. Ofhcers for the year were: President, George Gentithes, Avery Phillis, Vice President, Jean Work, David Bishop, Secretary, Josephine Guarnierig Treasurer, Avery Phillis, Nliles Baldwin. Programs for the year were of unusual interest. The works of John Galsworthy were the basis of one of the finest meetings held. Summer reading, prose and poetry of Rudyard Kipling, and essays, old and new, were subjects which the club enjoyed. The Christmas meeting was a social gathering at the home of Bliss Risdon. Songs were sung, and myths and stories of Christmas were told. DEBATE CLUB Resolved: That the United States should adopt a system of radio control and operation similar to that of Great Britainl' was the subject used for debate this year. Three of the five state league engagements were victories for the home teams, coached by Augusta l. Barrick. The affirmative team gained decisions over Youngs- town East and Kent, while the negative squad won from East Palestine. Affirmative debaters dropped a decision to Ravenna, and the negative, to Columbiana. Non-de- cision clashes were held with Howland, Ravenna, and Charleroi. Several members advanced their standing in the National Forensic League, of which Warren is a chapter. Wilson Binger, club president, received the Degree of Distinction, while Avery Phillis, secretary-treasurer, and Howard Nlorrison earned the Degree of Excellence. Norman Foster, Robert Lind, and George Gentithes re- ceived the Degree of Honor. Both teams entered the N. F.
