Mrs. Bordelons enthusiasm, abundant energy, and creativity cannot be overlooked. Mrs. Bordelon has earned her place in the history of our school. We at Warren Easton, from the very bottom of our hearts, are dedicating the 1973 yearbook to this won- derful person — Mrs. Roma Bordelon, 17 years at Easton . . . 18 Administration . . . Faculty . . . . Underclasses. . . . Seniors . . . . Organizations, . . . . Sports Advertisements 19 . . . Yesterday Things Were Happening At Easton . . . 21 The faculty and administration, unlike the students, are a continuous part of a school. The student comes as an inexperienced freshman, and later graduates as a mature senior. He helps Easton to grow but when he graduates his contribution is completed. The faculty member spends his entire career giving of himself to the school — his knowledge, interest and friendship. It is the faculty who places the educational building blocks of Easton in place and makes it not just a building but an edifice of learning. ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY Our Principal Speaks The purpose of all education is to teach us to think. The process of cramming the mind with the great variety of facts and ideas which come within the scope of a good school course would be of very little use if it were not for the ability to think which is a part of learning. Most of the things we learn in school pass quickly from our minds unless they come within our chosen profession, but the breadth of mental vision we acquire stays with us and ena- bles us to get a better grip on everything we undertake, though not necessarily related to the things we learned in school. Within the realm of thinking, education should teach us to do the right thing at the right time, in the right way; to do some things better than they were ever done before; to elim- inate errors; to know' both sides of the ques- tion; to be courteous; to be an example; to work for the love of the work; to anticipate requirements; to develop resources; to master circumstances; to act from reason rather than from rule; to recognize no impediments; to be satisfied with nothing short of perfection. 23 From the Assistant Principal Not enjoyment, and not sorrow is our destined end or way: hut to act, that each tomorrow find us farther than today. . . . Longfellow Yesterday is only an instrument of assessment for regulating today’s actions; tomorrow soon becomes today, and all todays become yesterdays. In life’s overwhelming struggle we must all act today with positive determination lo leave behind us meaningful deeds which will carve for us a record in eternity. Today is what affords us the splendid opportunity to achieve, to pursue, to labor with the hope of realizing all our dreams and expectations. Tomorrow is what deter- mines how earnestly we have undertaken the tasks given to us. We are children of the universe, and all of our fellow men are encouraged by the progress which each one of us makes. No one can afford to act out of selfish motives, as he travels life’s paths, since life itself is but a reflection of one’s deeds. Let us, then, evaluate yesterday, judge how well we have performed today, and resolve that tomorrow will serve as a greater incentive for more memorable achievements and pursuits. 24 Counselors MR.
