WELCOME BACK, MR. KIRST Warren Easton's new assistant principal, Mr. Carl L. Kirst, Jr., was a student teacher at Warren Easton in 1957. For six years he taught ninth grade English at Capdau Junior High. In his last year there he served in the capacity of assist- ant principal. Warren Easton is happy that Mr. Kirst has returned. 8

FROM MR. HEAD What is knowledge? What is its purpose? These questions have been asked throughout the ages, but no one can ever completely answer them. At Easton those of us in the pilot's seat will attempt to guide you through formal secondary education in your flight into knowledge. As individuals, each of us is engaged on a personal journey through life. It is imperative that we map out our best routes. Insofar as we have the wisdom, we must prepare ourselves for an ever-changing future. Finally, as educated individuals, we must constantly be on the alert, as is the jet pilot, for possible troubles that may cause us to revise and re-route our flight plans. My sincerest wish is that your individual flight through life be a successful one. 7
