Text from Pages 1 - 232 of the 1968 volume:

THE ’68 EAGLE PRESENTS THE BOUNDARIES OF THE SKY AND MIND ARE LIMITLESS Knowledge and learning can be as limitless as infinity. In life’s journey, these travels through knowledge never end. We continue to expand our horizons by an ever-increasing educa- tion. At Warren Easton, a student has many facilities at hand to begin a trip from which he will emerge a young man or woman prepared and eager for the boundless quest of life. 2 We, the students of Warren Easton, are embarking on an important trip toward the future. As students, we are passengers on an imaginary airplane that will carry us on a journey through learning. Mr. Head, the pilot of our plane, and Mr. Kirst, the co-pilot, sit at the controls, guiding us on a major step into the distant, hazy horizon. Our teachers are the crew, equip- ping us for this important flight. On this journey we will learn not only in the class- room, but also in the organizations and activities that we participate in throughout the year, for knowledge encompasses many pathways. As passengers, we, the students, have a responsibility to ourselves: to absorb and use to the best of our ability the knowledge that we can acquire. TABLE OF CONTENTS ADMINISTRATION 4-17 CLASSES 18-111 ORGANIZATIONS 112-143 ACTIVITIES 144-165 SPORTS 166-203 ADS 204-231 6 FROM MR. HEAD What is knowledge? What is its purpose? These questions have been asked throughout the ages, but no one can ever completely answer them. At Easton those of us in the pilot's seat will attempt to guide you through formal secondary education in your flight into knowledge. As individuals, each of us is engaged on a personal journey through life. It is imperative that we map out our best routes. Insofar as we have the wisdom, we must prepare ourselves for an ever-changing future. Finally, as educated individuals, we must constantly be on the alert, as is the jet pilot, for possible troubles that may cause us to revise and re-route our flight plans. My sincerest wish is that your individual flight through life be a successful one. 7 WELCOME BACK, MR. KIRST Warren Easton's new assistant principal, Mr. Carl L. Kirst, Jr., was a student teacher at Warren Easton in 1957. For six years he taught ninth grade English at Capdau Junior High. Besides scheduling students, the IBM computer kept classes level and mechanically typed out sched- ule cards containing periods, courses, room numbers, and teachers' names. Scheduling this year was done in only three hours with the help of Miss Shirlie Solomon and Mr. Frank Formusa, whereas in past years it has taken two full weeks of manual labor. Checking the accuracy of each student's schedule is Miss Shirlie Solomon. ;s OFFICERS |ry Lou Huffrfian; Sectary, Lyi V- ‘-W «►•SENIOR Q Left to right: President, Bobby Stanley; Vice-President, Cheryl Thompson; Historian, Judy Kenner. issey; Treasurer, RALPH ADAMS Opera Club; Natl. Being chosen as a captain of the flagteam and president of the Anchor Club contributed to the success of her three years at Easton. MR. He be- longed to the Student Council and was chosen as a Sophomore Superlative. As junior class president, Bobby be- longed to the Slide Rlue Club, Mu Alpha Theta Club and Student Council.
