Steve Hatcher, the recipient of three awards, beams as he receives another. Farewell '81 Graduation is a time of rain- bows-a time of farewells and hel- los, of misty eyes, of shaky expecta- tions. The Class of 1981 finished the year with flying colors and graduation occured with all the usual pomp and circumstance. Many honors were awarded. Steve Hatcher received the Winchester Star Leadership Award as well as the Balfour Award and The Q.D. Gasque Scholarship. Wayne Wil- liams received the Hugh D. Hite Award, and Ruth Foster was the re- cipient of the Hope Harden Atkins Scholarship. The evening finished with the Class of 1982 receiving their candles which represent hope for us all. The Top Ten for 1981 were: Wayne Wil- liams, Caroline Waldron, Darryl Miller, Su- san Mead, David Manning, Beth Long, Kim Hawes, Patty Johnson, Steve Hatcher, and Kelly Corr. Patty Johnson, President of the Class of 1981, gave her traditional speech during the ceremony.
