Never is she too busy to render any possible assistance to a student with a per- sonal problem, a teacher with urgent material to be typed, or to brighten her commercial classes with a vivid touch of humor. Many hours she has spent working earnestly with the Student Council, F.B.L.A., Junior Class, and Annual Staff. The Junior Class of 1956 is ambitious in many ways, ln the fall they elected Amos Holinger presi- dent with four other reliable ofhcers. In honor of the team, the Class sponsored a Football Dance which was not only enjoyable. hut showed the school that dances of that sort can be held. Both Junior boys and girls participated in sports, organizations. and other activities. ln the magazine drive Kay Armstrong and lack Rives were high salesman and runner-up respectively. t r Lights were lowered, and curtains raised as g'Showhoat, with all the juniors aboard, came steaming not down the Mississippi, but across the Warren County High School stage. Never has there appeared a more spirited crowd, dancing. singing, and playing specialties until the audience cried for more on the final curtain. Many hours of hard work went into making their Prom a success, but as the lights were dimmed and they danced to their theme song, each one was proud of his yearis work and looked for- ward to next year. Mr. Unger. Mr. Hall. Mrs. Mathews. Col. Apgar and Mr. Brengle are leaving school after a hard day's work helping the Juniors with the Prom. MONOGRAM CLUB After working hard to earn a letter in basketball, softball, cheerleading, managing or in an intramural sport, and then going through irritation nightv sixteen select girls finally became ollicial members of the Mon- ogram Club. Living by the uSportsman's Creedf, each member makes it her own responsibility to see that high standards of sportsmanship are maintained in the school. lVlontl1ly meetings are held in the homes of the members with refreshments served by the hostess. By selling Warren Hi pennants, stickers, and tape in the cafeteria during lunch time and candy to the attendants of the football and basketball games, the girls earn the money to finance their trips. Each year the Monogram Club members attend the Ice Capades in Washington, D. C. and during the early spring they spend a week-end at the beach. Returning home, sporting the season's first sun tan, the girls are the envy of every- one. lVliss lVlcClanahan and lVliss Colvin. their sponsors, and Dot Forrester, the presi- dent, help keep the vlulfs business in good order and the meetings running smoothly. IN CONCERT AND PARADE MAJORETTES - These high-stepping major- ettes add much to our Band's performance when on parade. Popular, pretty, dynamic--that,s the word to describe the peppy head majorette, Betty Jean Clifton. ENSEMBLE - Talent and action combined to make this group popular at our concerts. An en- largement of the Sextette, the Ensemble is a new addition to the music department. 65 THEIR PURPOSE GOOD Dances, conventions. programs, and worship. Sounds interesting? It is, and behind this work is a greater purpose. By combining work with play, the members of the Tri-Hi-Y and Hi-Y learn the true spirit of Christian co-operation and fellow- ship. The guidance of the sponsors, Miss Judd, Miss Fox, Mr. Murabito. and Mr. Hall. greatly strengthened the club. Delegates from each club attended Model Cen- eral Assembly and the Warrenton Convention. where they elected oflicers for the on-coming Model General Assembly and for the district. HI-Y Fmsr Row: W. This season our Dramatic Club, sponsored by Mrs. Russell, has staged two performances, one a three-act mystery, Home Sweet Homicidef, and the other a one-act play entitled '6Night Falls on Spain, which was entered in the district one-act play contest. The club members learned the fundamentals of applying makeup. During the National Education Week program two of the members applied make- up to another to demonstrate how an actor might be aged twenty or thirty years. The club also learned how to construct stage props. The sponsor and several officers attended the Speech and Drama Clinic which was held here at Warren. Information gained in school and at such meetings as this, plus the chance to develop ones talents make the Dramatic Club an organization well worth the efforts of its members.
