Amid the ever-present odor of wet clay, india inks, turpentine, tempera, and firing kilns, the ceramic students turn out their share of figurines, ash trays, candy dishes, and cuff links. The beginning art classes pursue perspective and the techniques of modern art. Advanced and commercial students keep busy making decorations for homecomings and dances and drawing dozens of posters for school activities. In spare time these 83 students just drawf, rt Contests, a Catch-All tud Hour All's quiet on the library front as the sixth period study hall people resign themselves to doing their homework, with only an occasional glance at the clock. Seven thousand books, from Ab- bott, jacob to Zweig, Stefan, plus 18 sets of reference books including en- cyclopedias, dictionaries and almanacs help make up Warren's library. Under the guidance of Mrs. Mary Davis, school librarian, 22 people en- rolled in library science this year and helped manage the library for the fac- ulty, the 735 students in study hall and the rest of the student body. L Prepare to loin GDesk Set, Warren's Commerce Department specializes in a program which not only offers training in office skills, but also gives practical experience as well. Speed and accuracy are the key words of this department, and only through constant drill and practice can these be accomplished. Bookkeeping students had never before realized how two little words, debit and credit, could be such a pain in the neck. While the typists try to unscram- ble the alphabet that lies before them in a maze of keys, the shorthand students try to master the peculiar language of loops and lines, which was devised by Mr. Gregg. With a few words of encouragement and explana- tion,.however, the commerce teachers are able to smooth the perplexed brows of their 354 bewildered students. All of this is a part of the valuable services rendered to Warren Central by this depart- ment under the direction of Perle Fisher. Mr. Fisher and students composing the visual aids department made arrangements for the distribution of films. A bulletin board tacked full of requests for Visual Aids' service keep this department working. While Eddie Brand delivers projection equipment, Director Perle Fisher sends Kenny Tobias on an assignment. uppl ing Video Equipment or oil Testing Vonn Hayes is demonstrating to his Vocational Agriculture class the ways of testing soil for lime, phosphorus and potassium. This is just a part of the boys' study of soil. The Warren Department of Agri- culture prepared 40 freshman, sopho- more, junior and senior boys for farm life.
