if Would-Be-Scientists Investigate the Unknown Who can forget the pungent odor of rotten eggs which drifted up and out of the science department and the acid-eaten holes in our clothing. During 1957-58, 640 students were enrolled in practical science, biology, chemistry and physics. In one year the science department spent 35425.34 on test tubes, skeletons, chemicals and other scientific equipment. Because of a sky full of satellites, high school science has made the lime- light and has become the most talked about subject in the educational cur- riculum. These future scientists are working diligently tu complete their experiment of the electrolysis of water. From this department of science, 85 to 90 per cent of the students will attend college. A teacher in the Mathe- matics Department Was no doubt that kind person who cleared up the mystery of the puzzling problem. The study of mathematics not only prepares stu- dents for future vocations and for college, but it also requires that the students employ the use of good reasoning power. At Warren, each student is required to take at least one math course. Seven hundred and ninety-six students were en- rolled in the algebra, plane geometry, advanced alge- bra, college algebra, solid geometry, and trigonometry courses which were offered at Warren Central this year. Oh, that is how that problem is worked. No doubt many a plane geometry student has made such a statement. just how to make those theorems work correctly with the right problem is the whole mystery, but Edwin Cooper, instructor, makes it look so easy. L Prepare to loin GDesk Set, Warren's Commerce Department specializes in a program which not only offers training in office skills, but also gives practical experience as well. Speed and accuracy are the key words of this department, and only through constant drill and practice can these be accomplished. Bookkeeping students had never before realized how two little words, debit and credit, could be such a pain in the neck. While the typists try to unscram- ble the alphabet that lies before them in a maze of keys, the shorthand students try to master the peculiar language of loops and lines, which was devised by Mr. Gregg. With a few words of encouragement and explana- tion,.however, the commerce teachers are able to smooth the perplexed brows of their 354 bewildered students.
