Reading And Writin’ And Arithmetic Are Essential (1) Pauline Schaekel, Barbara Slentz, Carole Oertel, Jim Winters, and Bob Stev- ens are among the members of the Ger- man Class who are interested in the learn- ing of German phrases of time. Both the first and second year classes were held the second period, and must have kept Mr. Eash pretty busy. (2) A new class, World Geography was watched with interest by many people and received writeups in the Indianapolis papers as well as those in the Owl. Geography was studied from an economic point of view. Present-day problems were discussed to give students information which can be used in everyday life. (3) Mary Clark presses a jacket while Betty Gouker, Nita Gates, and Donna Goodrich sew and Carole Singleton helps Mary Bader fit a housecoat which she made in advanced clothing. (4) Speech was one of the busiest classes at Warren this year not only giving plays but speech contests and many other ac- tivities. rtJtlA ' jthaiJL. But — We Picked Up A Few Other Things Here An There machines in the shop class. (6) Ann Goold watches Dick Hon as he boils chemicals in making a test. Leland Reich is making a smoke screen, Eugene Reeves is stirring a mixture, Phil Krug pours HCL in a graduate, and Eddie Fredricks watches as Jim Curry makes a flame test, and Paul Sparks filters with suction in one of the advanced chemistry classes. How those chemistry classes stood those awful smells is beyond us, but they didn ' t seem to mind. (7) Click, clack, click, clack! As you wandered around study hall almost any period of the day you would hear this noise coming from Room 10. But never fear the room isn’t falling down. It’s only the typing classes pounding away at their “budgets.” Miss Townsend is shown here preparing the advanced typing class for their next assignment. (8) Bob Ste vens, Earl Bangle, Ray Bul- lock, Bill Schelske, Carlos Montgomery, Walt Frankhouse, James Barnett, Don Brune, Charles Bremer, and John Endi- cott work industriously over their draft- ing assignment. (Ed. Note. This in a posed picture, of course.) (9) Government is one of the required subjects. It helps pupils to understand their government and the way it is run.
