(But let ua, Acud, 13 f iiA, t neAMHP ' Once again another school year has come to the end, and another class has been graduated. Each year the seniors have a certain routine that they must follow, yet there are certain distinctions which have and will occur that make them all different. During the last generation, as we all know, the people did not have as many opportunities as we of today have. Many of them were not privileged to attend school for the World War I was in progress. Thus most of the young people were either fighting or helping at home. Another cause of non-schooling was lack of money and interest in the school. Con- sequently the completion of high school education came out of the first world war. Just about thirty years later another world war was fought. This time youths were able to attend school and also could help fight by gather- ing essentials as tin cans, iron, and grease. Having needed better and entirely different equipment, science has made possible more chances for us seniors to serve. Since the students of today have more interest in higher education, more interest in college degrees has resulted from this second world war. Also, resulting from this war, there have been many opportunities founded in the fields of medicine, in photography, in foods, and in the knowledge of using our rare elements for different and more useful pur- poses. Some of these advantages are not entirely for the best. For instance, the A-bomb. We, instead of using it for destructive purposes, should use it to serve humanity better. In the medicine field, many medicines have been compounded which bring quicker relief and help overcome some of the rare maladies. Food values were stressed. As the fighting members needed certain items to keep them strong, we at home learned how to use other foods and at the same time received the necessary nutritive value. Remember “opportunity only knocks once.” So as the world of today has given us seniors of ’47 more opportunities to learn, explore, and serve, we wish the succeeding seniors richer and more abundant opportunities for study and service.
