Limbach, Bob Buckhorn, Bill Melvin. Vocational Courses in Agriculture were first organiz- ed in 1917 by the Smith-Hughes Act. Enrollments in the courses were large from the first. During 1928, agriculture clubs in Virginian schools were organized called themselves Future Farmers.” The movement spread rapidly i n the other states and within a few years chapters were organized in every state, in Alaska and Puerto Rico. The Warren Central Chapter was organized in 1937. Vocational and 4-H work in Warren township is di- rected by Mr. Walter Mowry and Mrs. Vivienne Carter. They are assisted by twenty-two adult, twenty-three jun- ior and assistant junior leaders. Four hundred four girls and sixty four boys enrolled in six hundred fifty projects this year. National honors or trips have been awarded to Mar- aret Young, Jean Vansickle, Meta Louise Prange, Rob- erta Mithoefer, L’Ert Capper, Raymond Bottema, Dale Pruitt, and John DeWitte. The annual event of the senior chorus, is an operetta. This year Blow Me Down” was pre- sented on February 16 and 17. Leading roles were taken by Frank McCord, Margie Burton, Clifford West, Mildred Trueblood, Donald Reich, Annabel Eakins, Irvin Prickett, Chester Perkins, Anna Rosemeyer, and Raymond Robertson. A picture of this group is to be found on the double page in the front of the book. The first band at Warren Central in the spring of 1928, was composed of twelve pupils. In the fall of 1928, Mr. Hamilton, became the head of the music department. The band has grown steadily since, and has now reached a membership of 55. The orchestra gave its first public performance in 1929. Contests were not participated in until the fall of 1932, when the band and orchestra won second place honors. In 1938, the band and orchestra won first di- vision in the District contest, and second division in the state contest. This year thirteen of twenty - nine entrances to the state class B solo contest won the right to enter the Regional contest held in Indianapolis. Those winning were; Betty Jane Dawson, John Sturman, Robert Clifford, James Laslie, Willard Holloway, Nellie Jones, Doyle Bowman, Jean Vansickle, Robert Vernon, String Quintette, Brass Sextette, wood wind, trio, standard clarinet quartet
