H Board of Directors i HE Board of School Directors in the School District of Warren Borough is the governing body of our local schools. lt represents the state in educational matters and is governed by state law and rules set up by the State Department of Public Instruction. lt also represents the citizens of this community. Every two years, by popular vote, two or three citizens are chosen for membership on this board and serve for a period of six years. The duties of this board are manifold. lt determines the annual budgetg fixes tax ratesg causes buildings to be builtg has charge of their operation and repair, selects teachers, the superintendent and other employees, carries out the curriculum set up by the state, and establishes and enforces local rules and regulations. Warren, indeed, is fortunate in having seven of its foremost citizens serve without pay in this responsible position. With outstanding credit, both to themselves and the community, they have established and are maintaining an effective school program for the young people of Warren. Seated, from left to right, in the picture are Ralph E. Brasingtong Hugh R. Robertson, Vice-Presidentg Homer lll. lXIohr, Secretary, John G. Rossman, Superin- tendentg W. John G. Rossman Floyd W. Bathurst Robert R. Young J. B. Leidig Administration He who has .seen litlle Is easily astonished. He sees ll camel and exclaims: fl horse with Il swollen lzafkf' -Httrihuted to .lleo Yung by Alan Simms Lee. To Students in Warren High School: Meo Yung observed about 100 years after the birth of Christ that people who have seen little are easily astonished. If he Were living today, he would find in the midst of all our present problems, each of us still limited by our horizon of experience and training. Seeing camels may not be of importance today, but to see things as they really are, to read carefully, to write clearly, to speak effec- tively, to think straightly, to accept responsibility, to believe passion- ately in democracy and all its possibilities - these are assets of real Worth. These are the characteristics and abilities which Warren High School would help you build into your living and thinking. We hope that every day may be for each of you one of astonish- ment, not because you are easily astonished, having seen little, but because you have climbed high enough to have a vast horizon and appreciate the Worth-Whileness of living in 1939. With best wishes, Superintendent of Schools.
