2 9 QDJQEECGS' 499 px ,Q ,Ag xp - f ' 2 3. llllIlIllllllllW ' H' 'H' -----A' tg - - .N , g L ALUMNI ACTIVITIES W CTIVITIES in an organization are necessary to keep the organization in existence. Our Alumni Association dates back many years and has a member- ship of many hundreds of people. Many of us do not think that this Association amounts to more than a name, but in this we are wrong. To be successful the Alumni Association must have the support of each member. The graduating class of 1919 originated the idea of an Alumni Student Fund. Their idea was to create a fund for the purpose of loaning money to worthy students who desired to obtain a better education and were unable to do so without help from some outside source. The first thing necessary was the completion of the alumni roll,a task almost impossible. However, this work was started in 1919 but it was not completed until 1926. In 1926 a letter was sent to each member of the Association, asking for a donation of one dollar or more for this fund. The response was very good but not good enough to make our dream a reality. Many of the letters were returned because of insufficient address. Some of the letters were returned by the more conservative who desired to know more about this fund, as to its methods of working, who would beneit by it, etc. No doubt these points were unexplained. It is natural that a person wishes to know where the money is going and how it is being used. The idea of the Alumni Association was to place the money which they received in control of a board of trustees, selected from Warren High School Faculty, from some of the leading bankers of town, and from some other reliable citizens. Students who wish to take advantage of this fund must petition this board of trustees. After careful study and examination, if the student is found worthy of help, the money is loaned to him, without interest, until his or her education is complete. After this time the loan becomes interest bearing. This is, in brief, the outline for the working of this fund. More information can be obtained by asking any of the alumni officers, who will be only too glad to enlighten anyone as to the working and activity of this fund. Appeals will be made from time to time for assistance. It is a privilege and an honor for any member to assist in this fund. Let us get behind this major activity of our Alumni Association and put it across. -George Folkman. D--G l 12 l
