This was due not only to their great playing ability but to their desire to win. Although they had a fifteen and eight record, the Demons showed great potential as they reached the heights of Number Seven in Georgia 1-AAA standings. KENNY THOMPSON JIM WALL JOE DANIELS Lamar Deaver, last year’s B-Team coach, proved himself worthy during his first season as head basketball coach of the Demons. Credit should also be given to Don Lord, assistant coach, for his help in mak- ing the season a success. LAMAR DEAVER DON LORD (head coach) (assistant) left to right: Daniels, McKinley, Stokes, “Big Dave”, West, McConnell, Deaver, Big “O”, Reynolds, Wells, Thompson, Wall, Briggs, Managers Blaxton and Smith. Tournament Action to within three points, and took the lead with two minutes left to play. They went on nip and tuck to win 51-49. The following night the Demons pulled another last quarter rally. Beginning the final quarter the locals again found themselves behind. They overcame this deficit and led by one with 0:35 left to play. A sure victory turned to grief as a pass was intercepted and a foul committed. The foul shot was missed but consequently a field goal was made. The Demons, now behind one, made a final effort as Dennis Wells iced the game with a 30 foot goal leaving four seconds to play and a 58-57 victory for the Demons. The Warner Robins Demons battled their WARNER ROBINS way to the finals of the 1-AAA tournament WARNER ROBINS before bowing to the undefeated Baker Lions in the championship game. In reach- WARNER ROBINS ing the finals, the Demons pulled off two come from behind rallies. WARNER ROBINS In their opening game, the local squad WARNER ROBINS found themselves behind nine points at the beginning of the final quarter. Warner Robins, defending state champions, and Northside finished one and two respectively during regular season play. Each had one loss being to each other. This resulted in the toss of a coin for the tournament. Luck proved helpful as the Demonettes won the toss but it was more than luck that won the championship for the girls. It was obvious that it was no easy game as the score stood 4-3 at the end of one quarter. W.R. took a five point lead to the dressing room. At the end of three they were down one but then came on with a decisive victory. Ch arity tosses really were the deciding factor of the game as the Demonettes outdid them 19-4. Lynn Brazzell carried the team through the final quarter and finished as the games top scorer. Both Northside and Warner Robins will represent their region in the State tournament. SIDNEY WHITE The Demonettes started slow but now the defending state champions look as though they are headed for another title. + S x We se’ We 32) Wp 30 left to right—Ann Minick, Judy Burch, Jeanette Byrd, Carlene Talton, Jackie Oliver, Carmie Howell, Jane Henthorne, Lynn Brazzell, Kathie Mitchell, Backy Saddler, Margaret Parker, Kay Hortman, Maria Lewis, Carol Baxter, Laura Strickland, seated in back, Manager Michele Reid and Sid White (coach) Secretary: Vice President: BRENDA EVANS BEVERLY WALLACE President: Program Chairman: NANCY COURSEY JACKIE OLIVER Treasurer: Favorites: SANDY SMITH NANCY COURSEY, TONY ELMORE Bruce Allen Mary Allen Lyn Almond Anderson Joe Aycock Jerry Bagley Tom Balue Kelly Barco Danny Barnhill Shirley Basham Jimmy Baugham Carol Baxter Steven Bell Glenn Belson Rusty Bennett Robert Beumele Ruth B r Tom Bissell Darrell Black Tom Black Gene Blackwell Kent Bockhaus Janet Boyd Patricia Bradley Crystal Brauch Carol Brazell Susan Brewer Oscar Bridges Gerald Briggs Jo Ann Britt Jimmy Brown Mike Brown Nehemiah Conners Marvin Cook Diane Cooks Nancy Coursey Danny Cox Susan Cravey Rodney Cumbus Mike Cumpton Alex Dade Terry Davidson Gene Davis Jerry Davis Linda Davis Margaret Davis Steve Davis Thomas Davis Benny Dean Linda DeLoach Randy Denny Jimmy Dixon Ronnie Dollar Karen Carter Mike Carter Sharon Cauley Eddie Causey Freda Chatham Arthur Christy Norma Cline Robert Colson Buzz Br li Jeanette Byrd Sandra Cannon Sue Cannon Coleen Carey Geniene Carter Tony Elmore Bobby Evans Wally Ford Clinton Foster Debbie Frankowski Bill Freeman Linda Fulton Debra Gardner Willie Garman Bob Garrett Leslie Garrett Dale Gartrell Micheal Gill Mary Goodson Joanna Goss Rex Granum David Granville Barbara Hall Carol Hall Rosemary Hall Van Hamm Ricky Hanselman Ronnie Harrelson Beverly Harrington John Harper Roger Harper Anne Hartline Linda Hazzard Linda Herlong Edith Henry Deene Hendersor Allen Hickman Ronnie Hicks Peggy Hollowa Fred Howard Vivian Howard Gail Hubbard Marilyn Inske Carol Jackson Tyrus Jernigan , ” Ronald Johnson Vickie Johnson Harry Jones Dianna Kaartunen Carol Kelly Susan Kell Linda Kennedy Debbie Kerwin Wayne Kimberly George King Bonnie Kingery Debbie Klith Debbie Knight Marian Kohler Steve Kunkle Arthur Lane Phyllis Law Andy Ledfore Sharon Lesle Jimmy Lester Tony Lewis Virginia Walters Annelle Ward Marianne Weatheringto Kathy Wilkerson Sally Wilkinson Allen Willbanks Charles Williams Felicia Williams Karen Williams Dianne Wilson Mike Wilson Deanna Wise Larry Wolf Cathy Womack Carol Wood David Wooddell Tommy Wooton Danny Worsham Barry Wright Lucille Wright Cathy Wrightsman Mike Yozviak Eddie Yoho Tom Zorka from “LIFE’ The World’s a bubble, and the Life of Man Less than a span: In his conception wretched, from the tomb So to the tomb: Curst from the cradle, and brought up to years With cares and fears. The Annual Staff: Revisited Eddie Editor— How to put a yearbook together. Acknowledgement We of the 1966 Pioneer take this opportunity to acknowledge the magnifi- cent efforts of our advisor and personal friend, MR. MAX CROFT. man who has inspired our every movement, (often with shocking efficiency.) A man who is one of the nicest, refreshing, most versatile persons we have ever had the opportunity to as- sociate with. Not only that, but he personally dashed through smouldering ruins to res- cue his box of Crayola crayons. If you’ve never had an opportunity to meet Mr. Croft, you’ve missed a lot. Many of his students consider it an honor to get a ‘C’ from him. One fellow ac- cidently got an ‘A+’ and went into con- vulsive laughter; but he’d felt he’d earned it. WE SALUTE YOU, SIR WE LOVE YOU . isn’t that nice . . . but you’re going to fail! And so another year ends . In order to make the yearbook more interesting we have made many changes and additions this year. All thanks and credit should go to the new members of the staff. Without the slightest knowledge of where to begin they have done an excellent job. I personally hope this annual caught a portion of the year that you will always remember. I believe I speak for all in saying that this year’s annual has been the best, not because of the work in- volved, but because of you, and everyone else who EDITOR made it possible.
