Dr. Chapman making his speech of acceptance. INAUGARATION Perhaps the most impressive event of the 1958-59 year was the inaugara- tion of our new president, Dr. Milo Chapman. Presidents and official repre- sentatives frorn a great number of Col- leges and Universities attended the ceremonies. Representatives from other agencies were also present. This was a great day for PBC. Dr. Chapman and Bishop Grant, the principle speaker, lead the group out of the auditorium at the close of the ceremonies. Mrs. Leslie Ratzlaff serves Dr. and Mrs. Chapman during the reception which followed the inaugaration.

Mark Hatfield, Governor of Oregon, speaking in the big tent. Some of the huge sweet potatoes that were auctioned off to raise money for the Gymnasium. The doner lon the lefty Is Mr. Culp from Central California. Chairman of Activities Clarence C. Perry,'Jr., introduces his Mother, Mrs. C. C. Perry, Sr., to Governor Hatfield. HOMECOMING Homecoming in the fall has now become a very important part of the Ingathering activities at PBC. For the second year the highlight was the out- door barbecue. A second very signficant experience of this year's homecoming was the burning of the Meier House on the east edge of the campus to make room for the new Gymnasium. The high- light of Thursday evening was a very excellent speech delivered by Governor Mark Hatfield fthen Secretary of State of the State of Oregonj. The home- coming crowd that packed the huge tent was inspired and challenged by his message. Groundbreaking at the site of the new Gymnasium. Dr. A. F. Gray, President Emeritus, wields the shovel.
