STANDING: Josepha Campinha, Melo- die Cook, Diane Andrews, Roberta Andrade, Vice President. The purposes of the Future Nurses Club of America are certainly important. These consist of stimulating interest in careers of nursing, medicine, and laboratory work, urging members of the club to maintain a high average in classroom work, and persuading members to work for scholarships. With the help of their worthy advisor Mrs. Govoni, the members have made trips to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford and have also attended the open house at l'obey Hospital. Another project carried out this year was the selling of Christmas candles at Christmastime. The profits from this activity went to their scholarships. These two scholarships of S50 each are given to members who are considering the field of Licensed Practical Nursing as their profession. This club is certainly beneficial to all students interested in nursing as their career. ADVISOR M, 2 Q S s QF Qi E r P ! iii . .... L' swf- ff' fn' Mrs. Govoni

The FTA Club is certainly a worthwhile organization for anyone interested in going into the teaching profession. The F in the name of the club represents the Future. The T stands for teacher, while the A stands for America. All these are symbolic of the meaning of the club. The purpose of the club is to help future teachers to learn more about the teaching profession, to culti- vate character qualities in a good teacher, and to develop leadership. A scholarship is given to a member of the club at the end of the year. The profits received from selling candy and food go to this cause. Dues, in the amount of ten cents, are collected at every meeting. The meetings are held on alternate Mondays. Under the leadership of Mrs. Spencer, the Future Teachers' Club has accomplished many things and will continue to do so in the future. OFFICERS ADVISOR ff . I QQ? These girls are voted into the club by the old members and must survive initiation day. The meetings are held once a week after school.
