The Key Club made the big move of allowing women to join the ranks this year. This was a big story at first, but af- ter things cooled down, every- thing ran smoothly. Although the student tu- tors organization is a bit smaller in number this year, it seems that the girls who did sign up are ofthe dedi- cated variety, thus making up for their limited mem- bership. No one is really positive, but judging from the harmonic noises erupting from within, everyone seems to assume that it's the chorus. Hope- fully, the band will maintain this attitude forever - and we only hope that the rest of the school follows in line. Although there were a few problems this year, the majorettes and color guard re- mained a highlight in half-time activities. X. 'Mfrs BOYS' STATE GOOD GOV'T Q -. . 3 X f l fi. 'il 3 DAY Boys'State David Chartier and Peter Plassmann were the 1974 representatives to Boys' State. Peter acquired an appointment to the Superior Court bench and David was elected to the State Senate. Between shaving cream fights, showing up at dinner with nothing but shorts and a tie, and streaking 500 boys at a time, the boys got some good political experience. David Robidoux was also a representative but was un- ableto attend. Girls'State The 1974 Girls' State repre- sentative was Jennifer Shea. Jennifer was elected to the House of Representatives where she became the chair- man of the Ways and Means Committee. Girls' State and Boys' State used to be held on the same campus. Nine months later the rule was changed. Girls' State is now held at Bridgewater and Boys' State is held at As- sumption. Good Gov't Day The author of this article knows nothing about Good Government Day except that this year's representative is Henry Woznial and that these representatives go to the State House and take over for a day. Liz Sherman, Bonnie King, Jean Anderson. Kim Desforges, Doreen Boucher, Karen De- vine, lVleave Rohan, Coach Jean Chrabascz, Ware has come a long way this season. For the first time in nine years the Indians found themselves eye- ing the Quaboag League Title. They have developed a strong and aggressive game determined on defense to force the low percentage shot-backed by an offense that can hit from outside and penetrate into the key forthe easy lay-up. Doreen Boucher has reached her peak of ability this season, leading Ware in scoring and rebounding. Liz Sherman and Jean Anderson as the team Quarterbacks, at guard, have risen to the job of controlling their teammates and are recognized for their vvell-placed passes and fast breaks. Kim Desforges, starting center. has been most impressive this season with her containment of the opponents under the basket, offensively and defensively. Her basketball sense and desire to win would have to be a foreshadowing for her senior year. lVleave Rohan's hustling and fine defensive work have also contributed to the success of this year's team. Varsity Golf: Row 1 - Rory Geslock, Tom Coulombe, Bill Korzec, Fran Charron, Manager Joe Sambor. Row 2 - Dennis Beaudin, Neil Gage, Chris Pajak, Gill Higney, Coach Constanzo. The Ware High 1974 Varsity Golf Team enjoyed another successful season, though they lost two valuable men and had nowhere near as great a season as in 1973, when they were Quaboag League winners and Western Mass. Champions. They did, however, sport a 10-5-1 record to finish well up in the League standings, taking a third place spot in overall standings. Many individuals stand out for their efforts. One is Bill Korzec, who was a Senior and first man on the team. Bill's consistently long tee shots and pressure putting put the Indians on top many times. His fine low average earned him a shot at Western Mass. individual scoring tournaments and a good personal won- lost record. Another important member ofthe team was second man and sophomore Gill Higney whose average was second lowest on the team and who went along with Bill Korzec to the State Tour- nament. Gill's overall good play, punctuated frequently with marvelous shots, won many matches. The team's fifth man, Neil Gage, was frequent- ly the match winner for the team. Neil's surprisingly low scores enabled him to pick up many unexpected points and give Ware High the victory. The other team members, however, all at one time or another contributed to the team good. Third man Fran Charron, fourth man Chris Pajak, sixth man Denis Beaudin and sub Rory Geslock along with rookie senior Tom Coulombe kept the Indians a good team. 87 , Intramurals s Strike one Strike two Strike three you're out!
