God gives each sector a leader And a fine example of what many of us Can only dream to be, For it is not an easy task To learn what we must. For anyone who dedicates themselves, We must be thankful, and so we are, And show it by the dedication of this yearbook to MRS. ISABELLE BRADLEY Eric B. And in time good ideas become our memories, And happy times fade to good-byes. But death is something that leaves its mark On certainly everyone And words cannot express our grief When our lives have but begun. In the final end we must live on, And struggle against the relentless strife. But in our minds we must believe That by death we are born to etemal life. We still stumbled around on shaky feet, To the embarrassment of all, You're sophomores now don't hang your heads Walk firm, straight and tall. So we did, and made our move, As we look back and say, Our victories include the Sophomore Hop, And certainly the One Act Play. We had our confidence, that's all we'd need, To push to be free, Free from fear and free from hate, We slid into year three. '-' 1 -fx..- mm ,lvl , Our junior year was a special one, We were almost free, Almost adults, and that's hard to be, When youlre only just sixteen, Our prom, our play, our olympic win, Were highlights from this phase, We came to school looking for one thing, And now we had it: praise. As the day of junior succumbed, To the slowly setting sun, Our minds were filled with one basic fact, Our years at Ware were almost done. So when we adjoumed for vacation, We left with fear, Fear that there was but one left, Yes that our senior year. 1972 OLYMPICS JUNIORS TOTAL POINTS: 50 SENIORS TOTAL POINTS: 40 SOPHOMORES TOTAL POINTS: 39 FRESHMEN TOTAL POINTS: 29 6 Girls' and Boys' State Left to Right: Fran Charron, Celeste Deslauriers, Louis Liro, Linda Rys, Eric Kmiec. We laughed and cried at each other, Emotion filled the air, It drew us even closer together, And aid was everywhere. One of the few clubs in the school which stresses brain over brawn, it meets every day in room 20. Matches are set up, and the competi- tion is intense between members. Because of its large membership, chess was recently added as an event in the Winter Carnival. Chess Club annually holds a tournament at the end of each school year, in which members use skills acquired throughout the year to compete against other members for the championship. Under the guidance of Mr. Rusiecki, the photography club has developed out of the simplest equipment into cred- it-deserving organization. Stress is placed on learning the basics, and then moving into more complex areas. With a darkroom readily available to all members students see the development from taking the picture to developing the l film, to printing the final pictures, so that the photographic cycle is complete within the school, with all work being done by the students themselves. Run in an informal manner, everyone from the newest members to president , Louis Liro were treated as equals. All the members were able to teach other members from the fundamentals to the l exotic. Competition between members was keen as they compared their photos with those of other members . l l l l i Enjoying a revival this year was the Smoke Signal, the official school newspaper. Fighting deadlines, the staff came out with several editions. The staff also introduced such innovations as photos of vital events, along with the usual hard-hitting editorials and interesting features. The staff was guided by Miss Kristina, who along with the staff put in many hard hours of work on the newspaper, with this work manifestering itself in the excellent editions of y the newspaper. l Members: Carol Oberg Louis Liro Richard Millier Gene Birk Nancy Fr0hl0ff Cindy J oubert Denis Lachut Michael Pajak Patty Ciejka Robert Millier Joe Sambor Missy Nicholas i 62 l These girls are the leaders of var- ious sports and activities spon- sored by the G.A.A. under the supervision of Mrs. Bradley. Although it is similar to other high school organizations in that it operates under the schoolis regulations and draws its membership from the student body, it is uniquely different from any other. This uniqueness stems from its sponsor- ship, its aims, and its program. The Key Club is unique for its aim is the developed powers of initiative, leadership ability, and good citi- zenship practices. These qualities are encouraged by each member accepting responsibility in the admin- istration and activities of the club, and by allowing him to use his own initiative in carrying out the pro- ject selected by, or assigned to him. Not only does the club provide the school with many services which make it a more pleasant place for stu- dents and teachers alike, but it goes into the com- munity as well, to undertake various projects for the benefit of the entire community. It gives the members some of their first experiences with guid- ance and leadership of a group of children. lst Row: Sandra Fisher, Valerie Harder, Gisele Giard, Heather Nicolas, Mary Ann Albertine, Mel- issa Nicolas, Louis Liro, Joyce Bullan, Michelle Cloutier. 2nd Row: Barbara Dineen, Kathy McQuaid, Ann Towlson, Wendy Dubay, Pauline Aucoin, Cheryl King, Geri Sorel, Lisa Renaud. 3rd Row: Shirley Wilkinson, Kim Davis, Martha Ciu- kaj, Debbie Urban, Mary Ann Piontkowski, Carolyn Kulas, Cindy Ghidenel- li, Susan Furgal. 4th Row: Paula Clark, Anita Cleve- land, Carol Jedetski, Mary Nowak, Mary Sera, Patty Ciejka, Janice Dan- sereau, Betty Abbott. 5th Row: Margaret Rog, Joanne Chrabaszcz, Shei- la Savage, Lanora Cum- mings, Linda Jamilowski, Pamela Allard, Audrey Morrissette, Cindy Cou- lombe, Gail Mongeau, Mary Ann Quink, Ellen Gorden, Debra Charpen- tier, Amy Gorden. It is an award that symbolizes excellence in girl's athe- letic achievement. Ware High placed first in the state, an honor which is noteworthy. Two girls, Jean Martowski and Beverly Bowen, deserve spe- cial credit. Both of these girls have won the President's Phys- ical Fitness Award six times, a truly remarkable achieve- ment. Also, Doreen Boucher and Terry Saletnik sparked the girls to greater efforts . Pro Merito is an honor awarded to juniors and seniors. This picture depicts the schol- ars of the senior class. To attain this honor one must have a B or better for a final aver- age throughout your three of four years of high school. These are the members of the top 1X5 of the senior class . Because of the size of the in- coming class, the initiation would have been long and drown out. Through the ef- forts and cooperation of the senior class and the faculty, an initiation dance was held. These pictures depict a few of the more interesting scenes. Unfortunately, we couldn't print the most interesting scenes! It was an enjoyable night for all and one that kept the tradition and spirit of a real initiation. Observers and participants gathered in front of the school for the various relays, races, and other competitive events. School spirit was at a high point throughout this time. First, the Senior Play comes along. This year, one of the funniest and best loved comedies was presented. An enormous cast was needed, but through the efforts of the directors, Mrs. Neidermiller and Miss Kleindienst, it was solved. The play was The Man Who Came To Dinner, featuring Eric Kmiec in the title role. As the curtain rose on March 29, opening night, the cast included: Mrs. Ernest Stanley Miss Preen ,...... Jackie Imbier MikeNorton Mary Ann Albertine With the Senior Play ending, each class offered their talents in One Act Plays. These plays are all evidence of how well a class can present to an audience a convincing story. All were well done. This year a new event came about. It was a Donkey Basketball game, held in the Ware High gym on March 13, 1974. It turned out to be a tough game between the Ware Sports Boosters Club and the Ware High Faculty. The Sophomore class held their traditional Sophomore Hop. It was a great success and the decorations added to the suc- cess ofthe dance. The Junior Prom this year was held at the Willow Glen Country Club, on May 20, 1974. On our final assembled night, the class came together and sat down for Our Last Supper , the so-called Senior Ban- quet. After the evening had worn on, the joy turned to pensive contemplation of years gone by and years yet to come. As we close our yearbook, and thus our High School years, we leave with eyes on the future, but minds on the past. And if someday, we can look back, for perhaps only seconds, and remember at least a lonely smile, then this book and our years have all been worthwhile. 88 GRAFFITTI PA GE 9 A ll ' , ff Y sc wax , -M in , f fx ee OU elm.
